The way points of this bicycle route:
Getting across Anderson road is a real pain. But this is a good spot, as there is a new bike path running along the north side of the train line.
Harvester rd is not too bad - 2 lanes for most of it and reasonable traffic speeds.
Road gets a bit narrow here (1 lane), so keep an eye out for cars behind you.
When we hit Ashley st, we cut left, then right onto Essex St.
Essex St is still quite busy, but wide enough that it's a lot better than Barkly St at this point.
Watch for buses!
Onto Barkly St here. Quite narrow, but the traffic moves pretty slowly from this point on.
Into the heart of Barkly St here. Bike lane most of the way until we cross the river onto Dynon Rd. Watch out for peds!
Pretty nasty section here, but its downhill on the way into the city. Lots of trucks - try the footpath until you hit the official bike path.
Keep an eye out for the bike path on the North side of Dynon road. It's an off-road one, pretty rough but it beats Dynon Rd peak hour traffic.
Head North up Lloyd St, and under the train lines.
Head East along Arden St, you'll be able to see the freeway overpass and train level crossing.
Lots of peds walking around out the front of the hospital
Head North up Elizabeth St
Keep an eye out for Tin Alley in Melbourne Uni, it's a nice route through to Swanston St.
Head East down Elgin St.
Take Johnston St to Smith St and you're there. It's moderately downhill heading East.
