The way points of this bicycle route:
Stelling Curves to prospect
Continue straight to Highway 9
Go down to Los Gatos Creek Trail
Some steep hills with gravel. You'll probably end up walking a road bike. A little gap at a gate gets you to Alma Bridge
Prepare for a great descent
Nice park here with restrooms and water
Watch the turn here. Its easy to end up on the wrong street.
Through downtown Watsonville. Water at this park near the road
over a big bridge
Stay on Elkhorne. Becomes a very quit rural road
Follow bike route signs
Collins/Benson looks like a good alternative.
This is where I made the mistake of turning left, and ended up going down to 101 and Blackie. Don't do that, unless you are in the mood for a long detour...
bike path starts at end of road
There is a bike path along much of Del Monte. At the upper portions it is mostly pointless, but can make things more relaxing. Lower on, you'll want to get on it to sneak off to the coastal path
Get on path now, if not already on it
There are a few places to sneak over from the path to Beach Range Rd. The Road is a good alternative to the path (and is for all practical purposes a path of its own)
Watch for a strange curve
Yes, you do seem to be going through the Costco parking lot
Path continues up a hill to Cannery Row, Aquarium and all sorts of other attractions
Welcome to Bikely, take a step by step tour of this path:
Press Start Tour - then use the navigation buttons below to move along the path.
Includes a variation of the Pacific coast bike route that avoids Highway 1, and uses Elkhorne instead
