My usual starting point!
Use the hospitals back gate - no cars allowed.
Nice fast decent.
Turn right at hte lights onto A51.
Turn left at first Hixon turning.
Follow signs for Abbotts Bromely.
Turn left for Newton
Turn right for Abbots Bromely.
Join main road.
Turn left for Newborough (B5234)
Follow road roud to left.
Take turning on left.
Turn left onto A515 to Ashbourne.
Level Crossing
Straight over roundabout
Take small road which is straight on at the A50 roundabout.
Turn left
Turn left at T junction
Turn right back onto A515.
Follow signs for Matlock (B5036) through Ashbourne
Turn right towards Matlock and Carsington Water - this road has lots of motorbikes.
Good views over Carssington Water.
Steep Decent
Long steep decent (12%) carefull of lights and junction at bottom.
Turn right at T junction (don't follow for Matlock).
Turn left almost immediatly and go past big mill buildings
Turn left up steep hill.
Turn left into Matlock
Join A6 for Bakewell and Buxton (back with the motorbikes)
Follow A6 left
I had lunch just up the B5056 - there is a gate to a field that goes down to the river - lovely spot.
Turn left off A6 up steep hill past church or onto B5055
Turn right after Bole Hill Farm
Follow signs for Chelmorton
Follow road round to left
Turn left onto A5270
Turn right onto A515 heading to Buxton
Turn off A515 follow for Harpur Hill
Turn left back onto A515 into Buxton
Turn left and folow signs for Leek (A53)
Long incline to highest point of the ride
Travellers Rest Pub
Steep long decent after Ramshaw Rocks
Turn left onto A520 for Stone
Follow A520 to right
Follow A520 to Stone - almost all downhill now!
Follow road to left
Straight on at lights
Turn left onto Stafford Rd
Join A34 for Stafford
Straight across roundabout into Stafford
Back to the start.
