The way points of this bicycle route:
Willow Pl. to the Ped/Bike Bridge.
Ped/Bike Bridge to Palo Alto
Coast right onto Bryant St.
Bryant St. is a Bike Boulevard: no bike lane for most of it, but few through cars and few stop signs -- be aware of the ones that do exist.
Watch traffic calming measures and special bike intersections.
South of Embarcadero/Oregon the pavement quality is spotty for a while. Some is great, some is lousy.
Turn right at Cal Ave for train station.
You can turn L onto E Meadow Dr to avoid the weird bike route wiggles -- be careful of traffic. There are bike lanes here. I prefer to continue to E Charleston, following the green Bike Route signs through the neighborhood, and then turn left.
L on Redwood Circle
L on Carlson Ct.
L on E Charleston Rd.
R on Middlefield Rd. Varying bike accommodation on Middlefield until after San Antonio.
Be careful at the intersection with San Antonio; it's high-traffic and there are no bike lanes.
After this there are bike lanes for the rest of Middlefield. Be aware that parking in the bike lane is allowed on evenings and weekends.
During hours when parking is allowed, by the school there can be a lot of parked cars.
Overpass of CA-85. Just after this there is a turn toward El Camino for the Stevens Creek Trail, which is a good trail to use for access to the MV train station.
Watch for trains and cross tracks carefully at the light rail crossing. After the tracks, begin merging for the left turn to Logue.
Turn left on Logue Ave to avoid the Middlefield/237 interchange. Logue has no bike lanes but low traffic.
Maude at 237. Watch the lights & lanes here, esp. the partially-regulated right turn from the 237 off-ramp to Maude. The bike lane starts/ends at this intersection. Push the Bike button to activate the light if there are no cars.
At Mary, if there are no cars, slide to the right side of the road and push the bike button.
Sunnyvale Office Parks
R on Sunnyvale.
Arques goes south and eventually acquires bike lanes. A possible southern through route. Also, the park here is nice.
Downtown & Caltrain.
