The way points of this bicycle route:
This is a good starting point for many rides. There is a car park to the east of the roundabout to meet up in first.
Be careful at the motorway junction.
There is a mini roundabout at the bottom of the decent!
Another decent with a junction at the bottom.
Go across the main road through the housing heading for Woore.
Make sure to take the left turn here onto the A525 to Witchurch.
Take the road past the station if you want to visit the town.
There is a small bike shop in Whitchurch if you need anything and a couple of cake shops too!
Bear left for the road to Wem (B5476)
It's easy to miss this left turn to Shrewsbury so look out for the sign or you'll be on your way to Ellesmere!
Head past the station and through to the main shopping area.
If you go up to Laura's Tower in the Castle there is a good view of The Wrekin and Shrewsbury.
There is a good set of cycle racks at the top of the main shopping street.
As always getting out of towns is a nightmare! Don't follow the main route to the right.
Look out for B4380 and follow for Telford.
Right turn puts you on the road for Ironbridge.
If you want to go 'Round the Wrekin' take the Longwood turn.
At this junction you can decide which way to go round the hill. Clockwise has some short, very steep inclines (11 - 16%). Anti-clockwise is a longer steady incline.
It all stats getting a bit steep now!
To make a full circle of the Wrekin turn left and head back to the Longwood junction. Otherwise use Buildwas Ln to head back to the route.
Right turn to head down to the river.
Good view of the cooling towers!
Go on - cross the bridge!
Stay down by the river until past the new bridge.
Go straight on at the triangular roundabout onto Coalport Highstreet
Turn left up the hill round the back of the golf course.
Go straight across the main road and follow signs for Shifnal.
Turn right onto the main road to Shifnal.
Follow signs for Sherifhales.
Turn left onto A41 to Newport.
Straight on at first roundabout...
...right at the second roundabout.
Turn right past the station.
Left at the lights to head back to the start point.
