Short Wolds circuit from Stamford Bridge
A circuit from Stamford Bridge. Mostly back lanes to Pocklington with cafes, through the dry valley and pastures of Millington to the top of The Wolds at Huggate. Past the Wolds Inn andmore dry valleys. Then a short section on the main road. The climb through Fimber to the cafe at Fridaythorpe is tiring. The roundabout route to Thixendale is well worth it for the distinctive dry valley limestone Wolds landscape and Thixendale was a time warp. The ride along the Dale is marvellous and the views from the north end are to The North Yorks Moors across the Howardian Hills. After a steep descent into Leavening there is a gradual loss of height to The River Derwent at Scrayingham. Buttercrambe Bridge and mill add further interest before the final wind down back to Stamford Brdige.by achamings
