The way points of this bicycle route:
Head for Ang Mo Kio Street 44 Bishan via the Serangon Gardens underpass.
Short cut through the large vehicle parking lot to avoid the jam at the traffic junction with AMK Ave 1.
Merge, give way. Up ahead - filter three lanes right. There is usually a traffic gap.
Turn right initially with traffic, then turn left and mount the kerb. Take the zebra crossing diagonally opposite and join the pavment along Bishan Road. *Watch out and give way to pedestrians*
Ride the pavement to Jalan Binchang.
When you turn right into Jalan Binchang, watch out for oncoming traffic.
Nice short downhill, wheee!
At the junction, take the pedestrian crossing and then the zebra crossing (diagonally opposite) to reach the pavement along Marymount Road *Give way to pedestrians*
This pavement is uneven, watch out at night. *Beware of pedestrians*
Turn right into the underpass. *Give way to pedestrians* Leads to near entrance of Little Sister's of the Poor.
Nice downslope, wheee!
Ride beyond the dead end into the pavement. This runs behind the MacRitchie bus stop and leads to the junction.
Take the pedestrian crossing at the junction.
Turn left into Joan Road - a road/pavement parallel to the road runs acros the Shell petrol station. Refuge during the upslope from the usually heavy, merging traffic.
*Give way to pedestrians - usually walking from the bus stop to Andrew Road.* Watch out at entrance of Andrew Road.
During Qin Ming, watch out for parked cars and pedestrians heading for graveyards in the south. Pavement is otherwise empty.
Watch out for pavement gaps as you approach Wallace Way!
What a relief! The Bukit Brown green haven, but for how long?
A lovely downhill through the underpass! Greenery and graveyards on either side.
Crossing into NUS Bukit Timah campus. If the path through Botanic Gardens is still closed for renovation (2007/8), use Bukit Timah Road instead.
A one-way road up ahead so ride carefully by the left side. Traffic usually negligible on this mild upslope.
Cut right into the downhill.
Slow down! Narrow entrance with barriers for motorbikes.
*Be careful* Watch out for fast driving traffic coming down Cluny Park Road.
Mount the kerb. *Give way to pedestrians*
Pedestrian crossing; hit the button to stop traffic.
It's a wide pavement. *Give way to pedestrians and people at the bus stop*
Careful when merging with traffic; some cars are fast here. Watch out at the three intersections before Coronation Road.
A nice relaxing road although you have to stay alert due to the many intersections.
Although traffic on Coronation Road now has right of way, some cars speed down Duchess Road, so look out!
Huff-puff up mild slope!
Traffic here is very fast and cars appear fast after a slope. So be sure to have a clear lane before turning left - don't take silly chances and stay alert; especially if tired! Wait for a clear break in traffic before filtering left.
Beware of heavy and filtering traffic.
Watch out for the many lane changing cars! Let the main traffic run before filtering left during the long gap.
Beware of left-turning traffic.
Huff-puff upslope!

This route avoids fast, high traffic roads and opts for detours through green, residential districts and low pedestrian-traffic pavements. It is slightly hilly for a Singapore route. Generally safe except for the last road, North Buona Vista, which is a hazard to a weak urban cyclist. Happily, the overhead bridge at Dover can be used instead. It is only a half-length carry going over. Returning via North Buona Vista is safe, though.
