The way points of this bicycle route:
San Juan Cosala is a small town between Jocotepec and Ajijic. For this route, I take my mountain bike on a back road until I come to the edge of town, where the ciclopista begins. Through town, the highway is narrow, busy, and (Nov. 08) full of loose gravel.
Not suitable for road bikes. At all.
At the cobblestones, turn left to reconnect to the highway.
cross to the other side of the road to catch the ciclopista (the bike path - separated from traffic by concrete dividers)
the ciclopista takes you up a slight hill. At the top you can see the lake!
watch out for horses, people, four by fours, gravel, and loose sand.
the ciclopista ends when you enter town. It starts again on the other side.
