The way points of this bicycle route:

Mission District

Start at the bottom of the Mission, crossing Cesar Chavez.

A bunch of cool cemeteries start here, lying handsomely at the base of the mountains.

Beware: parts of Westborough are really not so hot to bike on. Some slim or nonexistent shoulders. I'll work on a better solution.

Enter bike path at fence gate here, opposite San Bruno Ave.

Bathroom and water fountain here.

The trail is suspended here. Take a left on Larkspur to go around the missing bit.

Nice, wide bike lane begins here.

Take a right under the freeway to return to the bike trail.

Bike trail ends here. Continue on Skyline Blvd.

Take a left onto 92 East: a little disconcerting, but the shoulder is mostly fine and we'll be getting off again soon.

Exit right onto Canada Rd.

Left onto Woodside / Rt. 84

Route Details

Escape SF via Daly City and Colma; follow the nice bike trails along the reservoirs; finish down Canada and Woodside and Alameda. (I wouldn't claim this is the perfect way to get out of the city, but it's a route I'm working on.)
