OLD Safe route from Daugherty Ferry & Big Bend to Grant's Trail

The way points of this bicycle route:

CAUTION crossing I-270 on Big Bend Road bridge.

Left/North on Old Big Bend Road (to get out of traffic)

Keep right and go up hill, continuing on Old Big Bend Road: Avoids busy and narrow Craig Drive.

Left on Grandview Drive -- a very quiet residential drive.

North on Couch Avenue -- at the school.

East on Rose Hill

Caution: Major intersection (with Kirkwood/Lindberg road)

Follow road to left and up hill.

Take the first right: Lillian This is a small street; almost an alley.

East to Elliott ('till facing the fence). Turn Left and go down the hill. Now entering industrial area.

down Elliott, and right on the main street: Leffingwell Avenue.

under Railroad tracks (nice tunnel)

END: North-West end of Grant's Trail

From this point you can go South-West on Grant's Trail for about 8 miles.

Route Details

This is the "old" Safe route from Daugherty Ferry & Big Bend to Grant's Trail. It's still a good route, but it avoids using the new Daugherty Ferry bridge over I-270, which has been rebuilt and is now more bicycle friendly.
