Sackville to Rooty Hill

The way points of this bicycle route:

Sackville

(Day 3 of 3 day tour. See 'Comments' tag for details. Starting at Sackville Gardens Caravan Park). Turn left into Tizzana Rd.

Ebenezer

(Tizzana Winery on left)

(Coromandel Rd on left - Aceess to Ebenezer Uniting Church, which is oldest standing church in Australia)

Turn left into Sackville Rd. (Some traffic, no/poor shoulder)

Wilberforce

(Woodlands Park on right. Toilets and picnic shelter)

(Small shopping centre to the right)

Turn left into Wilberforce/Putty Rd. (Service station near corner). Wilberforce Rd carries some traffic, but has reasonable shoulder. (Alternate Route: Cross over Wilberforce Rd, and proceed along King St. Turn left into Earl St, which becomes Argyle Reach Rd (unsealed). At the end, turn left into Freemans Reach Rd and join this route again just before the bridge into Windsor).

Caution: Narrow Bridge

Shared path on left, which goes across the bridge.

Windsor

Turn right at roundabout (George St), but instead of continuing along George St (unless taking a break in Windsor or heading for the Railway Station), keep going along Bridge St/Windsor Rd but on the footpath on the western side of the road. It may be necessary to lift bikes up to the footpath from George St.

Cross over Macquarie St at the pedestrian lights, and ride down the shared path along Windsor Rd. After crossing the bridge over South Ck, ride along the shoulder of the road (contra-flow) for a short distance until the shared path starts again.

Cross over Mulgrave Rd at lights, then cross Windsor Rd.

McGraths Hill

Follow the footpath around to the right.

Turn left into Red House Cr.

At the end, turn left into Andrew Thomas Dr.

At the end, turn right into Old Hawkesbury Rd.

Vineyard

Road becomes unsealed. 'No Through Road' notice...Only applicable to cars!

Barriers which most bikes can get through.

Turn left into Brennans Dam Rd (Unsealed).

Turn right into Commercial Rd. Unsealed for a short distance.

(Caravan Park on left)

Veer to the right to follow the continuation of Commercial Rd.

Follow Commercial Rd around to the right at the Harkness Rd intersection.

At the end, turn right into Boundary Rd

Riverstone

At the end of Boundary Rd, cross over Windsor road at the pedestrian lights and turn left along the shared path.

Turn hard right into Hobart St. (Garden Centre on this corner has toilets and a good cafe).

Turn left into Edmund St (Unsealed until Crown St).

Turn left into Garfield Rd East, then right into Clarke St after crossing bridge.

Turn right into Riverstone Rd.

Steep pinch....

Nice bit of downhill after crossing McCulloch St.

At the roundabout, turn left into Piccadilly St.

At the end, turn right into Cranbourne St.

Turn left into Bligh St.

Schofields

Turn right into Kensington Park Rd.

Road turns around to the left and becomes Lamberth Rd.

Turn right into Westminster St.

Cross over Railway Terrace and Railway line, Road turns to the left and becomes Bridge St.

(Main road turns around to the right and becomes Grange Ave. To avoid climbing the hill on a road with poor shoulder, I prefer to go stright ahead and take the back roads before rejoining Grange Ave a little further up).

Turn right into Argowan Rd.

Turn left into Grange Ave.

Turn left into Carnarvon Rd.

Turn right into Angus Rd. This shortly becomes Durham Rd.

Turn right into Meadow Rd.

Marsden Park

Turn left into Richmond Rd (Busy road but reasonable shoulder).

Go onto footpath on LHS of road after traffic lights (Just before the bridge).

Turn left onto M7 shared path access path.

Turn left onto main M7 path alignment

Glendenning

Plumpton

Rooty Hill

Exit the M7 path onto Station St

Rooty Hill Railway Station Car Park
