The way points of this bicycle route:
CHILIS RIDE: Leave Shop at 8am. Meet up with group that leaves from Chili's.
Take I-5 shoulder and get off at next exit. Bikes OK.
KOM Points at top of hill
Re-Group here and stop for water.
Miramar Road on a Staturday morning is not that bad. There is a bike lane, very poor condition, but it will drop at times and put you back in the travel lane. Beware. ATTN BIKE PLANNERS, its also one of the only direct ways across this mesa to its heavily used, and could stand a major improvement.
ATTN: THIS is the most DANGEROUS portion of Kearny Villa Road. Several cyclists have been hurt and killed here. IT DESERVES more serious attention by CALTRANS AND THE CITY OF SAN DIEGO
After the HARRIS PLANT OFF RAMP, motorists have a very high speed on ramp onto SR-163 South. Several cyclists have been killed at this transition. THIS AREA DESERVES MORE ATTENTION AND A SOLUTION AS ITS THE ONLY MAJOR NORTH/SOUTH CONNECTION ALONG THIS MESA. Many Scripps/RPQ residents would ride this way, but riding on KVR is like being on the freeway. Ok on a saturday group ride, but very unforgiving during a workday commute.
The Sprint for glory ends at the signal warning sign as you approach the signal/bridge over SR-52.
Take the Bike path that runs beside the fuel depot.
ATTN BIKE PLANNERS, I've got a better striping plan for this interchange at Camino Del Rio South/MOntezuma/Fairmount. Its quite a challenge to merge many lanes without an extra bit of paint (lane) to help guide the vehicles around your movements.
Finished, usually back by 10:15-10:30.
