The way points of this bicycle route:
Erkrath is a town nearby the city of Duesseldorf / Germany, not far from the river Rhine. Unterfeldhaus is a part of Erkrath. By car you go there on highway 3 from Cologne to direction Oberhausen and change to highway 46 to direction Neuss. Leave the A46 at the next exit (exit 27) and drive towards Duesseldorf-Gerresheim. At the first signalloght turn right into Erkrath-Unterfeldhaus and use Max-Planck-Strasse. After approx. 1000meters turn right into Ueberhaan (at the yellow postbox). Ueberhaan is a dead end of the road 'Millrather Weg' from which three bikelanes start into three directions. We take the medium lane towards the bridge over the highway A46.
Use the right bikelane on the road to Highway A46 and take the small road at sign 'Pfannkuchenhaus' going downwards on the right.
Follow the bikelane 'Kaiserroute'
You pass the public pool 'Waldbad' on the right hand, while on the left hand you pass a big fish-pond.
Cross Elberfelder Strasse at the pedestrian signal and turn right. Don't miss the first small entrance into the wood (direction 'Hilden-Ost'. In the wood you pass military barracks on the left hand. Where possible, follow the bieklane 'Kaiserroute'.
wait at Walder Strasse until the signal light changes from red to green. That needs a very long time. Be patient !
You cross highway 3 through a tunnel.
Turn right into the mainroad and at the parkinglot on the left turn left into the small bikelane. Drive between the wood on the left and the villas of Hilden on the right side until you enter a big meadow.
Sit down on the bench, take a rest and enjoy the view on the big meadow in front of you
Just after the horsefarm turn sharply right (follow bikelane 'Kaiserroute')
Turn right and after 500meters again right into Road L403 direction Hilden. Use the bikelane on the right side of Hildener Strasse.
Turn left into Salzmannweg. Be careful crossing the mainroad.
Keep always as close to railroad as possible. The railroad will be on your right hand all the time.
Follow always the brook 'Itter' into Duesseldorf.
Cross Hildener Strasse and take the bikelane on the left side of Hildener Strasse, direction to Hilden
Turn sharply right into the gloomy tunnel under the railway
Turn right to the public beach 'Suedstrand' at Lake Unterbach. At the beachhouse take the right bikelane along the southern shore of Lake Unterbach.
Follow the brook 'Eselsbach' and drive through the tunnel under Rothenbergstrasse.
after the tunnel turn right and follow the brook 'Eselsbach'.
This roundtrip ends where it started: in the dead end of Ueberhaan.
