The way points of this bicycle route:
This route is written as a general ride, but also contains some notes for the specific 'Ride to Riverstone Festival' ride. The official end of this ride is in Riverstone at the 26.7 km mark. The rest of the route shows the return route to Rooty Hill.
Start at the bottom of the ramp on the north side of Rooty Hill station. Head east out of the carpark (towards the city), cross Station St and into the carpark on the other side (beside the skate park). Go through capark to a short section of unsealed track. There's a gate a little way along the track which may be closed. If so, just go around it.
Turn left onto the M7 shared path access ramp.
Veer left onto the main M7 path. Follow the main alignment of the path up to the Sunnyholt Rd exit.
Continue straight ahead (instead of following main track around to left) and head up access path to Sunnyholt Rd.
Turn left onto shared path. Cross M7 intersection, and continue along this (western) side of Sunnyholt Rd.
(Shell Service Station - water tap).
Turn left onto shared path alongside Old Windsor Rd.
(McDonalds & Ettamoga Pub on corner of Windsor & Merriville Rds).
Turn left into Junction Rd. End of shared path for now! ('Living Planet' cafe & Nursery on corner).
Follow the main alignment of the road around to the right - Crown St.
Turn left into George St.
Turn right into Mill St.
Turn left into Riverstone Pde. (This is the end of the official 'Ride to Riverstone Festival' ride. The rest of the loop shows the return route to Rooty Hill).
Turn right into Garfield Rd West and cross Railway line. (Riversone shops & station).
Turn left into Carnarvon Rd.
At the end of the rd, turn right into Angus Rd. This becomes Durham Rd as it swings around to the left.
Turn right into Meadow Rd. This changes name half way along to Townson Rd.
Turn left onto Richmond Rd (Busy, but with an acceptable shoulder).
At the traffic lights just before passing under the M7, head up onto the footpath on LHS of Richmond Rd. After going under the M7, turn left immediately onto the Shared path access path.
Turn sharp left onto the M7 shared path, and head back across Richmond Rd on the bridge, and head for Rooty Hill.
Veer right onto the access ramp.
Turn right to the bottom of the access ramp, and head back for the station carparks and the station access ramp.
