Rooty Hill to St Albans

The way points of this bicycle route:

Rooty Hill

(Day 1 of a couple of different tours. See 'Comments' link). Start at the Car Park on the northern side of Rooty Hill railway station (Bottom of ramp, near the 'Tropical Hut')

Go to carpark exit, and turn left (head north) into Station St.

Just before getting to Wolseley St on your left, turn onto the shared path along the right-hand side of Station St. Turn left (continue heading north) on the path.

Plumpton

Glendenning

Follow main alignment of path around to the right as it passes under the M7, and then left as it continues beside the M7.

Glendenning

Follow exit ramp to Richmond Rd, just before the bridge over Richmond Rd.

Oakhurst

Turn left into Richmond Rd. Proceed straight ahead at the Rooty Hill Rd Nth intersection. Richmond Rd has a reasonable shoulder.

Marsden Park

Turn right into Townson Rd

Schofields

Road changes name to Meadow Rd

Turn left into Durham Rd

Road changes name to Angus Rd.

Turn left into Carnarvon Rd

Cross over Grange Rd

Riverstone

At the end of Canarvon Rd, turn right into Garfield Rd West

Caution - Shoulder disappears as you cross the bridge.

Turn left into Riverstone Pde just after crossing the railway line. (Access to Riverstone Railway Station a short way up Riverstone Pde. Also shopping centre on right with toilets).

Turn right into Mill St (Reserve on the corner).

At the end of Mill St, turn left into Piccadilly St.

At the Stop sign, turn right into Crown St.

At the stop (?) sign, turn left into Hamilton St

Vineyard

At the end of Hamilton St, turn left into Camberwell Rd

At the end of Camberwell Rd, turn right into Riverstone Pde. (Note: If heading the opposite direction, staying on Riverstone Pde all the way back to Riverstone is not bad. Poor shoulders for some of the way, but downhill during that period).

(Vineyard Railway Station) Follow Rd around to the right. It becomes Bradon Rd.

Turn left into Wallace Rd.

Turn left into Level Crossing Rd.

Cross over railway line, then immediately turn right into Railway Rd South.

(Mulgrave Railway Station) Turn left into Mulgrave Rd and cross railway line.

Turn left onto Windsor Rd shared path.

Windsor

Shared path ends. Follow road shoulder to bridge, then back onto path.

Cross over Macquarie St at the lights, then up the hill (on road or path) to George St roundabout.

At the roundabout, either turn left to go into Windsor for a break, or go onto the road and zoom down Bridge St towards the river and across the bridge. Take the lane if necessary.

Freemans Reach

Turn left into Freemans Reach Rd, immediately after the RH turn on Wilberforce Rd. Follow Freemans Reach Rd to the end.

Turn right into Argyle Reach Rd (unsealed).

Wilberforce

(Cross over Singleton/Putty Rd. Road becomes George St. Small shopping centre a short way up George St on right, or a few shops along Singleton Rd to the right).

Turn right into Coburg St.

Turn left into King St/Sackville Rd. (Not much of a shoulder, and some traffic...)

Ebenezer

Service station & general store on right.

Sackville

Cross river on Sackville Ferry. (Toilets in park on right).

Sackville North

(Park on left, just after Mitchell Rd. Picnic tables under shelter, toilets, tank water).

Turn left into River Rd.

(Skit park on left. Water can be purchased in 6 litre containers).

Lower Portland

(Lower Portland Ferry on left).

Cliftonville

(Cliftonville Ski park. Small shop with back verandah overlooking river. Toilets in park).

Wisemans Ferry

Turn left to go across Webbs Ck Ferry. (Toilets. Go straight ahead for a few hundred metres for township, Cafes, pub, camping ground and a few shops).

Follow road around to the right. (Toilets).

St Albans

Turn right. Bridge across the river.

(Settlers Arm hotel on right, park with toilets on left).
