The way points of this bicycle route:
(Done as day 1 of a 2 day tour. See comments for details). Start in Beames Ave, on the south side of the Railway Station and head west.
(Mt Druitt Railway Station)
At the end of Beames Ave, turn left into Mt Druitt Rd.
Turn right into Palmeston Rd (Bakery on corner. Small shopping centre).
Turn left into Flinders St.
Turn right into Durham St.
Turn right into Melbourne St. Follow this around to the left as it becomes Hobart St and follows the railway line.
(Caution: Dangerous intersection) Turn left into Glossop St, and move into the right hand turn lane.
At the traffic lights, turn right into Phillip St.
(St Marys shopping Centre) At the end of Phillip St, turn left into Queen St.
Take the first right into Belar St.
Turn left into Carinya Ave.
At the Give way sign, turn right into Charles Hackett Dr.
Turn right into The Kingsway.
Turn left into Werrington Rd.
(Great Western Hwy intersection. At the traffic lights, go straight ahead. McDonalds on corner). Road becomes Reserve St.
Follow road arounhd to the right as it becomes Putland St.
Turn left (Gipps St?)
Road is blocked at this intersection. Squeeze between barrier and drain...Turn left into Gipps St.
(Road changes name to Kent Rd according to some maps)
(Crossing M4 Motorway).
At the end of Kent/Gipps Rd, turn right into Landsdowne Rd.
Turn left into Calverts Rd. (You'll begin to understand why this area is called Orchard HILLS).
At the top of the hill, follow the road around to the right as it becomes Homestead Rd.
At the bottom of the hill, slow down quickly and turn left into Darvill Rd.
Turn right into Wentworth Rd.
At The Northern Rd roundabout, turn left into The Northern Rd. (Busy road, but with quite a good shoulder).
Turn right into Chain-O-Ponds Rd. (A few good undulations along this stretch...)
Turn right into Kings Hill Rd. (Did you make it up that last steep pinch to the intersection?)
Follow road around to the left as it becomes St Thomas Rd
Turn left into Mulgoa Rd. (Mulgoa Rd doesn't have the best of shoulders, and carries a reasonable amount of traffic).
(Park on left with good shady trees, picnic shelter & toilets).
(Small shopping centre on left).
(Downhill run into Wallacia. Wouldn't be much fun coming the opposite direction, without much shoulder...)
Turn right at the roundabout into Silverdale Rd. (Small shop, hotel & caravan/camping park nearby).
After crossing the Nepean River, take the first left into Bents Basin Rd.
(Unsealed road for a short distance).
Bents Basin State Recreation Area. Take service road on left to get across the river to the other side of the reserve where the camping area is.
(Steep uphill!!)
