The way points of this bicycle route:
From Riverpoint Campus into downtown past INB Performing Arts Center, Riverfront Park (look for the giant red wagon). Stop at Twist Yoga Studio at 2nd & Howard next to Interplayers for a great yoga class, or at Rocket Bakery in Holley-Mason Bldg. on Howard between 1st and 2nd for coffee & carbs. Then up S. Hill avoiding some of the traffic via side streets. Takes you past Lewis & Clark High School (good historic restoration), Westminster Congregational UCC Church (cool rock structure), Sacred Heart Medical Center complex. Short steep climbs: Bernard-4th to 5th, and 7th, Bernard to McClellan. When you come east up 7th, you are facing the very steep curve made by drivers coming up the hill from downtown on the main route to Sacred Heart Med Ctr, and they won't see you, so watch out! Sometimes better to stay in right lane, go to light at 9th, and use crosswalk to head east than it is to join traffic and move to left lane for the turn; depends on time of day. At 16th you can decide to head east to Perry (or SE Blvd, once the construction is done fall 2007) and go up or down, or stay on Rockwood Blvd (lots of cracks in road surface, curvy, fairly quiet) to go up to where it joins SE Blvd.
