Number 6 Road is the only "official" North/South route across I-90 between Ellensburg and Kittitas. But there are agricultural tunnels under I-90 at Bull Road and Denmark Road. These are narrow and dark (after coming out of full sun), occasionally have debris or standing water in the bottoms, and suffer the occasional teenage driver plowing through them at a reckless speed. I use them, but with caution. Cross I-90 on the overpass.
Turn right, cross I-82 on underpass.
The Yakima River Canyon from this point 25 miles south to Selah is a fantastic - dare I say magical - ride. Everyone who spins should do it at least once. I would advise, however, planning to do the ride at some time OTHER than on a sunny weekend afternoon when there are liable to be exhausted and inebriated river floaters negotiating the narrow canyon roadway in speeding SUVs. To continue on this route, you'll turn right, proceed a short distance along the shoulder of Canyon Road, and then turn left on Ringer Loop Road.
The few buildings along Canyon Road here, all of which have seen better days, are, as far as I can tell, the most compelling evidence that there is (or was), indeed, a community named Thrall.
Turn left and cross railroad tracks.
There is a short (half a mile or so) foot trail along the Yakima River here maintained by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. It's a very lovely stroll along the river as it eases against a steep hillside getting ready to plunge into the canyon. Also there's an (fenced, so don't panic) off-leash dog park being built.
OBEY the stop sign on busy Canyon Road, then cross it continuing on Woodhouse Loop Road.
