The way points of this bicycle route:
Right turn off Blackpool Road towards Longridge
Narrow railway bridge
Continue towards Clitheroe, ignoring Ribchester sign
Turn right down Stonygate Lane. Quite a fast descent!
Turn left onto Blackburn Road. There's a café here if you want to rest. I've not tried it but it looked popular.
Cross the Ribble here
Turn right at the traffic lights onto the A59 towards Preston.
Passing British Aerospace Samlesbury
Probably a good idea to ignore the on-road cycle lane here: it wavers between a generous 1.5m and less than 75cm.
Turn right here at the traffic lights onto the A59. If you don't fancy using the dual carriageway you can take a lengthy diversion down Cuerdale Lane up ahead on the left.
Remember to take control of your lane. Ride at least a metre from the edge of the road to increase your visibility and safety.
If you are mad, you could cross 4 lanes of fast-moving traffic to use a cycle lane here. Sane people use the well-built and well-maintained road.
Tickled Trout Hotel
You could turn here for NCN6 towards Preston. Beware of the mud, stiles and kissing gates if you do.
