Shawnee State Park

Manns Choice

Bedford

Everett

Breezewood

Lots of fast food, gas stations, hotels and even a Bike Shop here.

The Abandonded Turnpike

Here we get on the Abandonded Turnpike. Theres a gravel parking lot with a dirt path going up a steep hill. You may have to push your bike up it. Be sure you bring lights! There are two decent size tunnels through the mountains. The road here isn't in the best shape since it hasn't been used in 30 years, but its still better than Pittsburgh. Also you can camp here.

Exit abandonded turnpike to your left. Looks like what may have been an old rest stop. There's a road on the far side of it. Go around the yellow barrier.

Rejoins Route S. Follow signs for BikePA Route S EAST.

Fort Loudon

Chambersburg

Small town with all services.

The official route S seems to have deviated from the following low-traffic detour around route 30. Here, you may choose to continue down route 30.

Mister Ed's Candy Shop

York

Wrightsville

Crossing the Susquahanna River!

Columbia

Lancaster

Small city with all services.

Tricky intersection.

Here an Evil ferocious dog is on the loose after nightfall. This issue is compounded by an extremely steep, although short, climb. Beware.

Route S got rerouted here. The following is the new route it is different than the official map.

Off to the right is the first bike trail, this on is unpaved. Skip this and proceede to the second.

Schuykill River Trail

Leave BikePA Route S and enter the paved Schuykill River Trail through the parking lot on the left. When you get to the trail make a Right, south toward Philadelphia.

Norristown

Conshohocken

Jump onto the sidewalk before you make this right hand turn. The sidewalk here is technically the bike trail.
