The way points of this bicycle route:
Picton Station. Train from Sydney arrives 9.02am on Sundays. Or leave car in station car park.
Argyle Street. Cafes and a pub open. Note the 19C architecture in the main street.
Right onto Barkers Lodge Rd.
Left at Mulhollands Rd
Gentle climb.
Left at Cedar Creek Rd. Sign was missing, but you can see the bridge ahead over the creek.
Cedar Creek
R at Sandy Lane. Some rough patches but OK.
L on to Oaks Rd. Watch for traffic.
Continue ahead on Oaks Rd
R on to Estonian Rd
L on to Bonds Rd
Straight ahead or alternatively take Lakes St and Michell Rd, particularly if you dont like the sandy sections ahead on Dry Lakes Rd.
L on to Dry Lakes Rd. This is unsealed and has sandy sections and could possibly be boggy or under water after heavy rain. Use Lakes St/Michell Rd in that case.
Enters National Park. Bikes OK but watch the sand! Nice bushland with lake visible on right.
R on to Slades Rd around the lake. Unsealed but good surface.
Picnic area with sandy beach. Toilet. Go for a swim if its hot.
L up a hill on W.E. Middleton Memorial Drive to exit the park. Or keep going to see some more of the lake area, then return. Old pump house near the turn.
Rocky section on bend.
Exit National Park. Left on to West Parade then immediately right on to Bargo River Rd. Watch for traffic when turning.
Crosses railway line near Couridjah Station - mainly used by Transport Museum stock from Thirlmere. Good downhill run ahead.
Road dips and then climbs to cross main rail line.
L on to Remembrance Dr. Main road so watch for traffic. You can do the loop to Bargo either way.
R at Rockford Rd
Road dips down to Bargo River crossing. Rock pools.
Continue uphill on on Arina Rd.
Pheasants Nest Rd on left. Try that on another ride, looks like it joins with freeway.
Right fork. Bargo Rd
Right on Great Southern Rd. Overbridge to Station is near here. Pub on corner does lunch, and nearby shop sells snacks.
Left on Wellers Rd
Right on to Remembrance Drive (old Hume Highway). Watch for fast traffic. Shoulder is a bit rough in patches but a downhill run to Tahmoor.
Left at big roundabout onto Thirlmere Way. Unsignposted, but a main road heading west- cant miss it.
Thirlmere Way
Cafe on left near railway, pub opposite.
R at Bridge St. Avoids a steep hill on Thirlmere Rd. Mostly downhill run.
Bridge over railway
L on to Remembrance Dr again.
Keep going for Picton or turn R with care at Prince St. Steep descent to bridge over river and railway.
Left at Lumsdaine St to follow a cycle route to Picton or straight ahead to Picton Station.
Cross bridge, turn left then left into Station car park.
