The way points of this bicycle route:
This is where you finished your climb. Now that you've caught your breath, had lunch, and refilled your water bottles, time for a fun descent / return.
Road surface is good; traffice light to moderate. Enjoy the scenery as you race through (30-40 mph).
The return views are also stunning, with occasional vistas out beyond the canyon to the Timpanogos
R - SR 32. Okay, descent is over; hope you enjoyed the views of the mountains on your way down.
Now back on SR 32. Decent pavement and shoulders for a mile or so, then the road narrows a bit. For the past few years, it seems like this stretch of road is under constant construction (2008.
Again, great alpine views to the left. Ahead and to the right, you can catch glimpses of Weber canyon, etc.
L - Rob Young Lane. I prefer to go through this rural area instead of staying with SR 32.
Turns right, and into Wooden Shoe Lane. Same rural area. As noted on the way out, Mountain Stages puts on their summer concerts at a park on Wooden Shoe Ln.
L (okay, straight) back onto SR 32 for a mile or so. This is a good spot to fuel up, because you're about to enter Brown Canyon, the final climb before returning to Park City.
L Browns Canyon Rd. Enjoy the views here of the stream-fed meadows; you're about to start climbing!
Up
Up
Up; mid-climb summit with a nice, free-running flat here for a mile or so. Air it out!
Up again; last climb
Summit of the road, quick descent to 248.
R - 248 Short climb then swift descent to the intersection with 40. Nice views of Park City Mountain Resort.
Off to the right is the National Ability Center; slight up-grade here then flat along the marshes.
Again, Kearns / 248 is a bit busy. Ample shoulder space. In the lee of this hill you are sheltered from prevailing winds; spin up!
Ending at PC High, as we began the "out" trip. Congrats!
