The way points of this bicycle route:
Starting out at PC High, for convenience. There is parking here, and the (free) city bus line serves this location.
On Kearns / 248. This is a moderately busy road with decent shoulder space.
This is first climb; you'll cross the Rail Trail (nice graded dirt road to Echo and beyond).
L Browns Canyon Road (189) decent, short climb up then long descent.
Enjoy the verdant scenery here, and the streams flowing through the pastures and meadows.
R State Road 32 - This is a busy road with decent shoulders. You're only on it for a mile or so.
R (okay, straight) onto Wooden Shoe Lane - more scenic and less traffic than the main road. SR 32 bends left here.
Throughout this area many working farms. Also, this is area where Mountain Stages presents free concerts in the summer.
L on Rob Young Lane.
R - State Road 32 - back on to the main road. Rolling hills. Minimal shoulder and moderate to heavy traffic. Be alert and be careful.
Off to the right, splendid views of the Timpanogos and the Wasatch Back, particularly the Deer Valley and Park City ski resorts.
L Center St/Mirror Lake Highway/150 - gradual, rolling up now all the way to the climb to Bald Mountain. This road gets moderate traffic, with many horse trailers and RVs (lots of camping up in the Uintas). Generally wide enough for safe riding.
Samak, suburb of Kamas.
Scenery throughout this area is lovely; vistas of mountains come and go, meadows appear left and right. This is free-ranch livestock area, so watch for cattle.
As you pass Lilly and Lost Lakes, enjoy the view; this is the last pleasant thought you're going to have because the real climb is about to begin!
