The way points of this bicycle route:
Starting from Banks St.
Near intersection of Banks St amd Kuranda Ave, turm right to use the path around Padstow Park.
Tight turn, tandems, trikes and trailers may not make it round. Follow the narrow concrete path.
Right at the change rooms, use the path to the driveway.
Left at the wide driveway.
The driveway meets Davies Rd. Continue ahead, cross Davies Rd to Bridge St. Davies Rd is busy, often vehicles are doing 80 kmh, take care. There are turn lanes half way across you can use as a sort of refuge.
Bridge St ends, turn right onto the path.
Path ends, boardwalk starts. Please note, this side of Salt Pan Creek (Bankstown Council) bans bikes being ridden on the boardwalk. I just slow down or stop for the pedestrians. Parts of the path in dense shade can be VERY slippery in the wet.
Careful at this corner when wet! It is well shaded by mangroves and is often slippery. Sometimes its just safer to walk the bike around this corner, remount when the boardwalk gets out into the open again.
Cross Salt Pan Creek using the bridge. There are about three steps up, or a wheelchair/pram ramp with tight turns.
This boardwalk on this corner gets a lttle slippy in the wet.
Boardwalk intersction, continue ahead to Lillian Rd via a dirt path. A depot for the K2RQ project is on your right (too recent for the satellite image).

Traffic lights at intersection of Hannans Rd, Kardella Cr and Broad Arrow Rd, continue along Hannans Rd.
Theres a metal plate on the road just near the corner, its slippery in the wet. Watch out for cars cutting you off at the corner as well. Uphill from here to King Georges Rd. Hannans Rd becomes Broad Arrow Rd. September 2009, the magpie is back on the attack.
Traffic lights at intersection with King Georges Rd. Broad Arrow Rd finishes, cross King Georges Rd, head into Ponyara Rd. Its often best to be in the right hand lane.

Left to follow the ramp down towards the Bexley Rd, Wolli Ave intersection.
As ramp nears Bexley Rd follow the path to the right. Get into low gear, theres a short steep climb for a hundred metres or so. September 2009 the path is narrow, fences from the construction of the nearby M5East air filter plant are part way across the path.
Leave the path, get onto Wolli Ave. Typically quiet backstreets from here to Homer St, but do lookout for buses from both left and right here.
You are past he steep bit, road is still climbing.
Hill flattens out here. Road forks, keep following Wolli Ave to the right.
Watch out for this manhole cover that sticks up out of the road, it could really do some rim/tyre/tube damage on a road bike if you hit it hard.
Left into Airedale Ave.
Follow the road around to the right, Airedale Ave becomes Morgan St.
Roundabout, turn right into Homer St. Look out, many vehicles speed through it along Homer St.
Signalised pedestrian crossing, road narrowing opposite school.

Traffic lights at intersection of Homer St and Joy Ave, continue along Homer St.
Turn left just before the traffic lights. We want to head to Earlwood Ave. The clods at the council put in traffic calming devices to discourage cars using Earlwood Ave but didn't think to still allow cyclists to go that way legally to access the councils own marked bike route. So we are going to do this stupid little U-turn dance.
Pedestrian crossing. Yep I know I could just go straight up into Earlwood Ave here by riding across the pedestrian crossing but I find it safer to just go along Clarke St....
Do a U-turn...

Past the gate, turn left at the footpath. Use the island in Homer St to cross. Check for fast traffic approaching from the roundabout on your right. Adora Chocolates is on the eastern side of Homer St, their chocolates are the best you can get. Well worth a stop.
