The way points of this bicycle route:

Padstow

Starting from Bryant St.

Padstow

Bryant St ends, continue ahead along the path. The gate is often closed, you may need to use a gap between the poles to your right.

Padstow

Left at the path T-intersection.

Padstow

Concrete path ends, boardwalk starts. Be aware riding bikes isn't permitted on the boardwalks (there is a fine). I still use it, just slow down and pull up for pedestrians to pass.

Padstow

Boardwalk goes under the M5. there is a constantly changing graffiti gallery off to the right.

Padstow

If its raining you'll notice the very thoughtfully provided shower of water dumping straight off the M5 onto the boardwalk.

Padstow

Right to cross the bridge over Salt Pan Creek. There are tight turns, awkward for tandems, trailers and trikes.

Riverwood

Boardwalk ends, continue along path. Watch for oncoming cyclists and pedestrians at this corner, shrubs often obscure the view

Riverwood

Turn right and cross the bridge over the creek. If you went straight ahead it takes you on an unsealed surface past the tennis courts, bowling club, to the intersection of Wiggs Rd and Moxon Rd.

Padstow

Turn right onto the road after crossing the small bridge.

Riverwood

Continue along the road under the M5. From here to the park near Kentucky Rd the sealed surface has been damaged by the pipeline work, theres currently some unsealed bits.

Riverwood

Left at the T-intersection after passing under the M5.

Riverwood

Turn left at the path intersection. Much of the path from here to Belmore Road North was closed for about 3 years, its now reopened and improved. May 2008 the satellite images still show much of this under construction, it is now good quality concrete path.

Riverwood

Keep following the main wide concrete path. The path veering off to your left goes to a bridge over the M5.

Riverwood

Path forks, veer left. To your right is Riverwood Community Garden. There is a path here, September 2009 the satellite image still shows the area under construction.

Left onto footpath.

Narwee

Turn right to path through reserve on the southern side of the M5.

Beverly Hills

Rosetta St ends, use the path through the gap in the concrete noise barriers.

Beverly Hills

Tight turn.

Beverly Hills

This is the part that sucks about this route, getting across King Georges Rd. At King Georges Road turn left to follow the footpath to the crossings. Theres going to be three of them.

Beverly Hills

Footpath ends, cross the slip lane at the M5 westbound entry.

Beverly Hills

Cross King Georges Rd.

Beverly Hills

Turn right after crossing King Georges Rd.

Beverly Hills

Cross the M5East westbound exit lane.

Beverly Hills

Use the path besides King Georges Rd southbound.

Kingsgrove

Keep following the main path around to the right. There is a narrower path and shortcut to Garema Circuit on your left.

This part of the path to the Karingal St underpass has a history of being poorly lit at night. Vandals smashed some lights, others simply failed, it took ages to get them fixed.

Use the bridge to cross Bexley Rd. Bexley North railway station is just south-east of here.

Earlwood

Earlwood

As ramp nears Bexley Rd follow the path to the right. Get into low gear, theres a short steep climb for a hundred metres or so.

Earlwood

Leave the path, get onto Wolli Ave. Typically quiet backstreets from here to Homer St, but do lookout for buses from both left and right here.

Earlwood

You are past he steep bit, road is still climbing.

Earlwood

Hill flattens out here. Road forks, keep following Wolli Ave to the right.

Earlwood

Watch out for this manhole cover that sticks up out of the road, it could really do some rim/tyre/tube damage on a road bike if you hit it hard.

Earlwood

Left into Airedale Ave.

Earlwood

Follow the road around to the right, Airedale Ave becomes Morgan St.

Earlwood

Roundabout, turn right into Homer St. Look out, many vehicles speed through it along Homer St.

Earlwood

Signalised pedestrian crossing, road narrowing opposite school.

Earlwood

Traffic lights at the intersection of Homer, William and Hartill-Law. Continue along Homer St. Theres often alot of traffic here, but we turn off it very soon.

Earlwood

Traffic lights at intersection of Homer St and Joy Ave, continue along Homer St.

Earlwood

Turn left just before the traffic lights. We want to head to Earlwood Ave. The clods at the council put in traffic calming devices to discourage cars using Earlwood Ave but didn't think to still allow cyclists to go that way legally to access the councils own marked bike route. So we are going to do this stupid little U-turn dance.

Earlwood

Pedestrian crossing. Yep I know I could just go straight up into Earlwood Ave here by riding across the pedestrian crossing (tsk tsk) but I find it safer to just go along Clarke St....

Earlwood

Do a U-turn...

Earlwood

Left into Macquarie Rd.

Earlwood

Macquarie Rd finishes, path starts.

Earlwood

Turn right to head eastbound on the Cooks River path.
