The way points of this bicycle route:
Turn Right onto the Channel Hwy and prepare yourself for a big hill with no shoulder.
Pick up some good speed down the hill and get a glimpse of Mt. Wellington with morning light. Crossing Snug creek, look to the right and look across Northwest Bay to Tinderbox
Nice rolling strecth of road to Margate , mostly with sealed shoulder.
From Margate to here, very scenic and good sealed shoulder. Traffic can be noisy and intimidating as it's a 100km/h zone.
Slip past the usually long queue of cars at this roundabout (the same ones that overtook you at 100km/h)
This stretch is the best part of the ride. It's a secondary hwy so relatively quiet. And, the cars are pretty bike aware and pass cautiously. Look at Mt wellington to the left and teh Channel and Storm Bay to the right.
Avoid the busy part of Sandy Bay road and turn down Marieville espl
Cycle up a "hors categorie" hill on Napoleon St
Stop in at Jackman and McRoss for a real butter croissant.
