The way points of this bicycle route:
Start of the route. We'll go down non-busy, neighbourhood streets from here to Riverside.
Turn left here and head up the bike path and head straight through the park to Billings Ave.
Head back onto the road
Cross Riverside and go onto the bike path across the road.
Turn Left at the "T" intersection
Turn right and double back and go under the bridge (the bike path goes under the bridge and comes up on the other side)
Get back onto the road and follow the small sidestreets to Brewer Park and Carleton University
Turn right onto Wendover Ave
Turn Left on Cameron Ave. Though Cameron Ave is One Way for Cars there is a bike lane for bikes that allows you to go "down the street the wrong way". Excellent.
Get onto the bike path that goes across Brewer Park and follow it to the lights at Bronson (across from Carleton University).
Go under the O-train tracks.
Head across the road and onto the library road. Follow the library road up towards the canal.
Turn right onto the bike path and cross Colonel By Rd.
Pick your bike up and go up the stairs and cross the lock.
Now we'll follow roads and paths across the Experimental Farm.
Cross Prince Of Wales Dr at the lights and head straight across.
Here you can go either right or left. Going right leads to another path that crosses the Experimental Farm. I like to mix it up and so I go left;-) This is a "farm road" and it is often closed to motor traffic. Even if there is traffic, it is very, very, very light. It's safe for kids at any time.
Cross Fisher at the lights. Head straight across.
Turn right onto the bike path.
Turn left at the bike path and cross Maitland at the lights. Head straight across and onto the bike path on the other side.
Turn right and go into the forest. This is a beautiful ride through a little wood.
Take a left turn.
Cross Matiland at the lights at Garfield Ave. Go right across and follow the bike path on the opposite side.
Cross Iris.
Take the trail to the right.
Cross Woodroffe at the lights. There is a Fire Station across the road. The bike trail continues just to the left of the Fire Station.
Cross the Transitway. The buses here are coming pretty fast so pay attention. Luckily, it's not very busy. P
Go under the bridge (you really have no choice;-)
Take the trail to the right. The trail passes between the City of Ottawa Offices and Centrepointe theatre/library.
There's a skateboard park to your left (which is often full of skateboarders - not at 7:00am though;-)
Head under the railway tracks.
At this intersection we leave the trail and head through the neighbourhood for a bit. The streets are not busy at all. Head straight across Craig Henry Dr and go onto Shoreham Blvd.
Turn left onto the bike path and follow the path up to the lights at Greenbank Rd.
Go Straight across Greenbank at the lights (Bellman and Greenbank). Follow the bike path on the other side.
Here you leave the bike path for a little bit and head onto the road. The road is not very busy at all and is very wide.
Go left and catch up with the bike path again.
Go through the gate and into the "Bruce Pit".
Turn left here and cross CedarView Rd. Take the bridge across Hwy 417.
Go across the street and through the Bell High School parking lot. Pass by Bell Arena and go into the woods behind the Bell Arena.
Turn right and go between the houses to come out on Evergreen Dr.
Turn right on Evergreen Dr and follow small neighbourhood streets to the corner of Richmond Rd and Stinson Ave.
The end of the route.

A beautiful, safe route for getting East-West in Ottawa. Mostly bike path (paved and crushed gravel). The parts on the road are very safe - through small roads in neighbourhoods.
