Osaka to Kyoto along the river.

The way points of this bicycle route:

The naniwa cycling trail meets up with the path along the river here.

The service road thing your on ends pretty soon, so somewhere here you'll want to get up onto the proper road. There are access paths between them, I usually forget to take them and walk through the grass when I get to the end of the service road

This road is thin and one way South, it's not very busy though and the cars don't go very fast.

somewhere here the access road starts again. head down to it, it's better.

Now this is the least pleasent part of the trip. I usually take the road for a few K's from here. the road is busy and there's lots of trucks. There's also a train line here and if you're lukcy you'll see a Shinkansen. (there's a pedestrian crossing to get to the other side of the road, useful on the way to Kyoto)

There are a few places to stop here for a drink.

Good Shinkansen viewing spot.

Cross at these lights. Go under the road.

Follow route 123 through some suburbanish area for a while.

Bit of a kink in the route here, go left, then first right, before the river.

Don't turn off and go over the bridge here, it's really tempting to.

Somewhere along here you could probably drop down to the path that runs along this river, but I usually just stick to the road.

Katsura

From here you could keep following the river and go up to Arashiyama. head right at the bridge if you want to go to Kyoto city.

Kyoto

There must be a much better way through the city, but I don't know my way around.
