Cross I-5
Bear left on Hwy 66 (southbound)
Passing Emigrant Lake
R on Old Hwy 99
Fun way for the road to avoid a railroad grade crossing!
Passing restaurant & lodge
Cross under I-5
L toward Mt. Ashland Ski Resort and Old Hwy 99
R on Mt. Ashland Ski Rd.
Summit -- 4645'
L onto Colestine Rd (becomes gravel, all downhill except for two very short pieces)
Pass volunteer fire station
Cross RR tracks (very rough crossing)
Pause and enjoy first view of Mt. Shasta (in front of you). Look over your left shoulder for a view of the Buddhist monastery.
Welcome to California
Cross RR tracks (rough crossing)
Pavement resumes (but is very rough)
Passing old stage stop
Pavement gets smoother
Passing Hilt Store and Cafe (very good burgers and shakes)
R onto I-5 South (nice wide, smooth shoulder, all downhill)
Go through Agricultural Inspection Station in order to avoid crossing in front of trucks merging back onto I-5
Rejoin I-5
BR onto Hornbrook Rd. (exit 790)
L on Hornbrook Rd.
Store
L on Copco Rd
R on Ager Rd (cross Klamathon bridge)
Straight on Montague-Grenada Rd (past Hwy 3)
Beware of blowing dust from the rock operation -- eye irritant
R on Oberlin Rd
Cross under I-5
R on Kegler Ln
BR on S. Oregon St
Jackson St School
