The way points of this bicycle route:
Starting at Caravan Park entrance. Turn left (west) into Lochiel St.
Turn left into Marlo Rd. (No shoulder for most of the way to Marlo. Low to Medium traffic (More in holiday season). Mostly flat, with a short 'up and over' hill going into Marlo. There are a number of places to stop along the river, some with picnic tables and/or shade).
(Start of the hill).
(Top of the hill. 3 Caravan Parks, a hotel, & general store in town).
Park with tap on corner. (Turn right into Argyle Parade for access to General Store and Hotel).
Road to Cape Conran undulating. No shoulder on road. Not much shade during summer. Some traffic during holiday season.
Near this point a couple of our group had a little incident with 'liquid' tar on the side of the road. It doesn't go well with cleated riding shoes !!
Turn right into Cabbage Tree Conran Rd. (Straight ahead takes you to Cape Conran. Camping available, but ballot system exists over New Year Period). Drinking water can be purchased from NP info centre in various size bottles). See http://www.parkweb.vic.gov.au/1park_display.cfm?park=83 for more detailed maps and further info).
(Old Coast Road on right. Alternative route to Bemm River. Rough unsealed road).
Turn right onto Princes Hwy. Reasonable shoulder for first 1.4 km (Total distance on Hwy approx 5.5km)
(End of sealed road shoulder).
Turn right into Sydenham Inlet Rd. (Bellbird Ck Hotel 3 km further along Hwy, down the bottom of a hill).
(Other end of Old Coast Road on right).
Picnic/Camping area beside river (Picnic table but no other facilities). Excellent views of river from bridge
Caravan Park on right
General Store/Bait shop on right
Turn right into Sydenham Pde.
Hotel on right, jetty to the left (The only location where most mobile phones work in town is at the jetty....) Another caravan park further along Sydenham Pde, up the hill.
