Parma

Start of our ride to New Philly

Smooth gradual downhill to Granger

Cleveland

Start of the towpath trail. From now on it's all towpath trail or Canal Byway.

Cuyahoga Valley National Park

Thornburgh Station. Asphalt stops and crushed limestone begins.

New bridge over Tinkers Creek completed

Near the site of the Eagle nest, not since 70 years ago has an eagle nested in the valley

Brecksville Station on the CVSR

Construction continues on the I271 bridges

Coming up on Peninsula, Century Cycle and 2 resturuants here

Look for the large mounds of sludge from waste water treatment plant. Note a large number of mushrooms growing on top. Could they be Shitake mushrooms? Hmmm

Valley Mart across Merriman Rd.

Overlook of the confluence of the Cuyahoga and the Little Cuyahoga rivers

Akron

Mustill Store

Just completed the Casade Race. Towpath Trail ends. Short steep uphill on Beech to N Howard St. Route procedes on road surface thru Akron to Lock 3 Park.

Lock 3 Park. We have on previous excursions taken the path to the canal but on this day there was a farmers market event and we were told the gate was locked leading to the trail behind the Canal Park Stadium. A local cycling enthusiast informed us to take the ally behind the building and a short ride over a grassy strip to get back on the trail which we did.

You can take either the west or east side of the canal trail

End of trail, take parking lot drive out to Lakeshore

Off road and continue on Towpath Trail

End of Towpath Trail and continue on Snyder Ave.

Back on the Towpath Trail

Lock 4 Park

Massilon

Ernies Bike shop and Blue Heron Deli

Navarre

End of the Towpath Trail. Road surface up to the end at New Philly

Bolivar

Stopped for a few snacks and drinks

Dover Dam on the Tuscarawas River

New Philadelphia

Ponderosa Steak House. We ate here having ordered the all you can eat salad bar.

Motel 6

End of the ride for today. Motel 6 and a hot shower waiting for us. We rode a few extra miles around town to make it 100.

Dover Dam. we had a short break here

Fort Laurens, checked on construction progress of bridge over I 77 of the Zoar Valley Trail

Stopped at the Marathon for a few snacks and drinks

Ernies Bike Shop and Blue Heron Deli stopped for some liquid refreshment.

Found an ATM for some snackin cash

Ice cream stop

Valley Mart for more snacks and drinks

Stopped at the Winking Lizard for drinks

Stopped for a break
