The way points of this bicycle route:
instead of making a little loop out into the surrounding farmland and riding by the Passion Play theater on the way back into town, another (shorter) option is to turn left on Dorfstrasse. (We didn't do that, partly because Dorfstrasse was closed for a special event)
It might be worth knowing a different way to depart north from Oberammergau than this. The problem we found here is that when you join the main highway, the nice asphalt bike path / sidewalk is on its other side with a wide stretch of (unpaved) vegetation between the roadway and the path. So we found ourselves riding north on the highway (with high-speed traffic) and not finding an easy way to get onto the bike path until we reached Unterammergau and turned off the highway.
for most of our way going north from here, we tried to follow the signs for the Ammer - Amper Radweg (AAR), which worked well for us.

Wonderful farmland with cows and horses on moderate hills, fields and forests, delightful little villages, some big views -- mostly avoiding high-traffic roads. We did this as one section of a single-day loop ride of 111 km (or less) which returned to Oberammergau by way of Neuschwanstein castle and Austria.

The town of Oberammergau is famous for its "passion play", and this route goes past the playhouse, but apart from that the town is pretty and pleasant to visit. Surprise is that the roads of this section go thru hilly farmland without significant steep climbs.
For the other two sections of the loop, search on Bikely for [denpoc], [denpoa].
We've done it once so far: the track given is from our GPS. We thought the full loop was a great ride so we're sharing it, but it's possible there are some mistakes or problems we didn't notice. This route not checked by us since 2009.
