The way points of this bicycle route:

Chicago

You are now in Chicago. But not for long!

Don't turn left here. Take the middle fork.

Niles

Get ready for the bridge!

Morton Grove

You are now leaving Morton Grove. Just to the west (your left) is the incredibly tiny village of Golf, over half of which is made up of a golf course.

Glenview

Turn right on Glenview Road. Riding on the sidewalk is legal in Glenview (I think).

Wilmette

You are now crossing over the Edens (I-94)

Evanston

You have two choices here. After crossing Green Bay Road, either stay on this side of the river or cross to the other side. In either case, follow the river until you reach Golf Road, at which point the trail continues on the second side of the river only.

Skokie

This side of the river is in Skokie. Enjoy Skokie!

Welcome to the North Shore Channel sculpture park. Enjoy the ugly sculptures paid for by the tax-dollars of hard-working Skokie residents.

There's the Skokie Swift (Yellow Line), up there.

Why is the train bridge so high? There used to be a second set of tracks here, which crossed the river at an angle. The bridge over the river is still there, as is a cement wall which probably supported a second bridge over McCormick Blvd.

Lincolnwood

This side of the river is in Lincolnwood from here on.

On your right is Lincolnwood Town Center. If you want an ice cream at this point, go in for some Häagen-Dazs. On your left are the Winston Towers, the tallest buildings for miles. If you can finagle your way inside, go up to the top of the stairwell for an great view of Chicago. (Use the elevator, please. This isn't a triathlon.)

Chicago

Crossing Devon, we return to Chicago.

To avoid crossing Lincoln and Peterson Avenues (U.S. Highways 41 and 14): Cross the bridge at Lincoln, and then watch out for the drop as you make a sharp (and steep) left. You can then go down to the underpass.

Yay! Another underpass!

Don't you love underpasses?

No underpass at Argyle. Turn right, cross the bridge, and turn right again.

Here you can get a glimpse of the only "waterfall" in Chicago (as far as I know), where the North Branch of the Chicago River meets the North Shore Channel.

Head straight to go down Carmen Ave.

Turn right to cross the river on a pedestrian bridge.

After the bridge, make a sharp left to follow the river.

Turn right on Kimball, and immediately left on Carmen.

Make a right on Drake, followed by an immediate left back onto Carmen.

Make a right at Central Park Ave.

Cross Foster to enter the Northeastern University campus.

Continue North along the footpath. (alternatively, just follow the road.)

Turn right on St. Louis Ave.

Turn left on Bryn Mawr.

Turn left on Bryn Mawr.

Turn right to traverse an awesome 1-mile bike path which was converted from an old rail line.

Enjoy the pedestrian bridge.

Pedestrian bridges are most enjoyable when they cross busy streets like Peterson.

Lincolnwood sure is small, isn't it?
