The way points of this bicycle route:
Catch ferry to Stockton (extra cost for bikes)
Follow Nelson Bay Rd to NB... ride in the shoulders (just watch out for big trucks; potholes; roadkill!)
Turn left for Salamander Bay
Catch ferry to Tea Gardens
Lazy Dayz Cafe on Marine Drive; Visitor's Centre on Myall St
Treacherous fire trail ahead! Closed to cars, but walkers (and thus cyclists) can attempt it (at own peril). Suspension helps.
Left takes you to Bungwahl (beer at the servo). Right to Seal Rocks, little known wonder of the world. Road to Seal Rocks has its ups and downs - watch out for cars - dusty, visibility not great, road can be narrow. Last slope culminates in (literally) breathtaking oceanviews.
Only shop (with chocolate, limited groceries etc) at beach No. 1. Camp in enchanted forest clearing close to No. 2 beach (near Treachery campsite - also home of the Phone Reception Tree). ...and back to Bungwahl!
Palm trees! Bizarre. Mmm, many stupendous beaches around to be breathed in. Sport&Rec club makes a mean plate of wedges.
Beauty beauty! Ride the Lakes Way to Forster - cars and massive trucks speed up and down - shoulder can be narrow and unsafe for cycling. Patience required.
Jump off the wharf (on your left, by the park/BBQ) and swim to adventure island - for shrubbery, desert flowers, soldier crabs, oysters, dinosaurs perhaps.
You made it! Turn right into Blackhead Rd - takes you to the beach, where you live happily ever after with the mermaids and mermen.
Black Head = bakery = caramel tarts!! (note: Coles etc should be open soon in the Village)
