The way points of this bicycle route:
I camped here at the end of my first days cycking. The camp site is just North of the bridge over the River Serein
This is my first days journey starting fro nemours on Sunday 3 June. Camping in Cezy on the River Yonne.
my camp site at the end of my 2nd day. An excellent municipal camp site on the river
End of 2nd day. Camping in Chablis
The best route from here is to follow the river Serein. I didn't because of a lot of diversions in the area of the town of Chablis. The river route is much better than the route I took to Noyers
End of 2nd day. An excellent municipal camp site
End of day 3. Camping in this village
End od day 3 Camping by the river Serein. simple but good municipal site
Following the D36
Continue on D36
D36
turn left on to D79 and enter précy-sous-Thil
end of day 4. Camp site
The camping is an open area below the Hotel de Ville and no real security. But there was no problem from local yobs!
This road going East is a very very stepp hill for abouy 1 km! I pushed up the whole thing
End of hill!
D36
Stayed here 2 nights 7, 8 June 2007
Cross the D33
This is the beginning of about 5 kms of undulating and at times very stepp road which seemed interminable on a very hot day
After the long hard uphill this is the beginning of a 6 kms downhill swoop into Beaune!
Good camping municipal close to a good town.
Start of the Voie Verte to Macon
Camping Municipal. Not very much shade -- but I endured a torrential thunder storm here anyway!
End of the Voie Verte. Well it was for me. The track deteriorated into a rough stoney track so I left it!
Note that this point here was under huge reconstruction and was very dangerous
Note the D12 gets lost here and becomes a very very busy "Route Peripheral"
A site with a huge amount of shade -- too much really -- bu tit was suffering a bit from being very soggy due to heavy rains
Camping Municipal -- very expensive for not a lot. But clean and good help from the staff!
A totally residential site that was not very welcoming! Not recommended for cyclists!
I stopped for a sunday morning cup of coffee here and an excellent Boulangerie/Patisserie!
Very helpful staff but a very basic site on a hillside with very stoney terraces. Sanitaire a bit basic -- but clean
I fiund it was the home of Georges Brassens! Nice town -- very "Roman"
Coffee and Pastis for late elevenses. I eventually returned here from Avignon to do my shopping in a LIDL
Fair grotty privsate camping but I set up in a large field away from the permanent shacks!
I leaft the Rhone here for the last time!
I had decided not to go into Nimes and I followed the ring road as you can see, I was straight forward but a bit "exposed" at times. It was also a very hot day!
from here on the route was good and traffic free!
good but basic camp site, Beatiful town with a long history. Well worth staying an extra day
Huge camping which was only half open. Swimming pool and lots of fresh apricots around my tent! Canet is a very very boring town!!!
Stayed here with Neil ( from school and army days) and Pauline
Very busy town with a huge traffic problem -- but I got through it quicker on my bike!
I got lost a bit round here -- well not really the road i followed disappeared into a track for about 2 kms! But I finished up in the right place!
