The way points of this bicycle route:
Start out in Natomas.
Watch the descent on this side of the overpass. At the upcoming intersection is a round-about and traffic isn't always sure how to handle your presence.
Cross Garden Hwy and enter Discovery Park.
This section is really nice. A lot of trees and bushes, it's very cool in the summer afternoons.
Watch out when going under Northgate. There's often people fishing under here, as well as cyclists and pedestrians in this tight area.
This is where the trail detours while it is under construction following the trestle fire in April.
This section is fast and fun. Up ahead you can either choose to stay on the trail or hop up on to the levy. The levy is a bit shorter but the road surface is very rough and will slow you down.
Watch out for joggers and elderly cyclists in this curvy, rolling area.
The park here hosts various functions throughout the summer, including picnics for local cycling groups.
This is the worst part of the commute. Coloma is four lanes wide with a breakdown/turn lane in the middle. Traffic moves fast.
When you turn left on to Folsom Blvd, if it's around 8am, you'll need to watch out for all of the highschool students walking to school while drinking alcohol and smoking joints. They're usually too drunk or high to worry about you so just try not to hit them if they fall over.
