National Train Day Ride 2011 - The Eastern Railroad and the B & M

Meet on May 7, 2011 at 9:45 in North Station for a ride to celebrate Nation Train Day 2011 <http://www.nationaltrainday.com/events/other/?st=MA> We will take the 10:15 train to Beverly Farms, and follow portions of the old Eastern Railroad back through Danvers and Saugus, ending at the old Boston & Maine stations in Malden and Medford. Along the way, we will stop to look at a number of historic railroad stations and talk about the competition between the Eastern and the B & M in the years just before and after the Civil War. 30 milesby Dick Bauer
