The merge here is a bit nasty, but not terribly bad if you catch the red light, and move with the traffic.
River St is one of my favorite streets. Nice hills, with minimal traffic.
The left turn here can be annoying at times, but I've never had to sit more than a couple of minutes.
This is the smaller of the two large hills on the route.
You get a really nice stretch of downhill here. I hit 35-40 easy while going down this hill. The only thing holding me back is my panniers.
The view on this stretch is quite nice.
Welcome to Bear Hill. It actually has a name on my regional bike map. Everything is downhill after this, and this is the only even slightly difficult portions of the whole ride. Just take your time, and you will be fine. There is nothing but downhill on the other side where you can recover.
This is the worst left turn of the trip. Sometimes someone will let you go, other times people will cut you off.
The left turn here can be a bit of a pain, but you should have some speed left from the downhill on Bacon.
I always stop at this bridge and take a look over the lake. It is easily my favorite view of the ride. The whole of the Mystic is my favorite road in general on the route, and I like to take it slow.
This roundabout can be tricky, but it's small, and you have right of way once you are in it. Cars are generally nice here, so I've never run into problems.
Boston Ave is probably the worst road of the ride, but only due to the numerous pot holes and college students that like to walk out in front of you.
You have to make a left here that can be problematic if there are already cars present. However, there is a nice downhill after it that you can get going pretty quick on, however the road is also in poor condition so use your judgement.
I just cut right across the bike path.
