Mont Ventoux from Bedoin
This route will be ridden by the participants in the Tour de France trip "Alps Stages and Mont Ventoux" from Ronan Pensec Travel
The Mont Ventoux is a remarkable natural site with huge varieties of vegetal and animal species. Is has been classified " Biosphere reserve" by the UNESCO. Mont Ventoux
has been nicknamed the "Giant of Provence", or "The Bald Mountain". As the name might suggest (venteux means windy in French), it can get windy at the summit, especially with the mistral; wind speeds as fast as 320 km/h (193 mph) and the road over the mountain is often closed due to high winds. The Mont Ventoux encounters important climatic effects: major variations of temperature that go from heatwaves to -30°C. Its isolated position overlooking the Rhône valley makes it dominate the entire region and seen from many miles away on a clear day. The view from the top is superb. During a sunny day on the top of the Ventoux, you’ll discover one of the most wonderful panoramas of Europe.by Ronan Pensec
