The way points of this bicycle route:
Out the back door
We started out by following an interesting path up to shephard we found on bikely.com by pedelphile.
Along this street is the bleak, square, treeless apartments of what looks like a public housing project. However, it was interesting to see that the community here seem to be trying hard to combat the bleakness. The street is lined with simple plant holders on wooden poles. The park and bus benches are painted in bright colours with community-friendly messages painted on them.
An old school. Pretty rough looking from the outside. Looks to be fairly well maintained, but just the age of it makes it hard to fight the effect of decrepidness.
Nice green space, but of course the noise from the surrounding major highways is rather heavy.
There is a narrow sidewalk with metal railings going along both sides of the road under the highway. The chariot we were pulling could just barely fit with barely 15cm clearance. Luckily there was not much pedestrian traffic so we were able to get the chariot through without having to deal with any oncoming walkers. It's a long dark walk to get to the other side of the highway.
Healthy Planet - Selena was looking for some mineral supplements.
Shoppers Drugmart - stopped for a drink.
The field currently ripped up, and the path (looks like an old abandoned "fitness trail") is insaccessible.
Holocaust Memorial building
Dead end. No way through here.
Playground with nice sand. Also a public water fountain.
Contemplated going into the park, but seemed to recall from years ago the connecting trail is pretty rough for pulling a trailer through.
Lots and lots of people here. Lots and lots of cars. Lots of barbeques and picnics.
Should have taken the path going down into the trees to get to the path through the revine.
Ski lifts
We opted to just ride on the sidewalk down to Wilson. The sidewalks are pretty wide up Bathurst. It's not hard to stay well clear of the few pedestrians, even with the bike trailer.
No Frills grocery store.
If we still live here in another year, this will likely be the school Istra will go to.
This actually is an official city bike route (route 31 south, the signs say). I didn't know about this route, we just ended up on it accidentally.

Selena and I, out for a casual ride pulling the two kids in the chariot. (2008-Jun-14) The northward route was inspired by a map by Pedalphile.
