The way points of this bicycle route:
Start at the Church of the Nazarene (although you can start and finish anywhere along this loop.)
Turn left onto Los Osos Valley Road
Turn left onto Foothill Blvd.
Turn right onto Santa Rosa. Heavy traffic, but there's a bike lane.
Left on Mill Street
Right on Grand Avenue
Left on Monterey Street
Right onto Highway 101. Busy highway traffic, but with a good shoulder.
Watch for bicyle route. I think there's a new underpass to Stagecoach Road
Enter Stagecoach Road. Dirt road alternative to climbing the Cuesta Grade on 101 (not recommended). Steep.
Back to 101. Last time I was there you rode to the bottom of a deadend road paralleling the highway, then looked for a dirt path off to the left (I couldn't find it at first due to underbrush). Take the path back to 101. Then ride on the wrong side of 101 until you come to a place where you can cross (carefully!)
Look for dirt path at end of dead end road. Take path to 101. Ride on wrong side of 101 to place where you can cross (carefully!)
Cross 101
Exit 101 on Santa Margarita Exit
Restaurants, store, antique shops, gas station, etc.
Left on El Camino Real. Good shoulder.
Enter 101 north for brief ride on highway. Good shoulder
Exit freeway. Turn left onto Vineyard Drive heading west.
Turn left onto Santa Rita Road
Veer left - stay on Santa Rita Road
Left on Old Creek Road

Toro Creek Bridge. Very unsafe northbound - no shoulder at all. Proceed when there's no traffic.
Right onto San Jacinto
Left onto Coral Avenue
Turn left onto bike path
Turn left onto Atascadero Road (Highway 41) for brief jog.
Turn right before onramp, onto bike path.
Right onto Main Street. Turn left on steep hill. Be careful getting into left turn lane.

Cross Morro Bay Blvd. and continue on Quintana (very busy intersection - 4 way stop)
Back on Quintana paralleling highway
Right onto South Bay Blvd.
Left on Santa Ysabel - back to starting point.
