The way points of this bicycle route:
flat from College
Road starts rising from here
Easy enough L turn going LCC to PHSG, and a reasonable R turn on the way back-care needed on R turns from Major roads to minor
slight incline to Cross Roads at Mutley Plain
This crossroads can be intimidating to an inexperenced cyclist. Going effectively straight on into North Hill is actually straightforward. Turning R either into Alton Place, or Alton Road is not easy
a suggested strategy, going out and back is to walk across Greenbank Road, and North Hill. These are protected by the lights. Then going out resume the bike journey at Alton Place, riding into Rochester Road, and going into the entrance to PHSG at Alton Road Going back to Lipson, the journey is easier, but is made safer by walking the bike across the major cross roads
Not easy. A suggested strategy for that is to walk across Greenbank Road and North opposite the pub, and then walk up Alton Place-and ride into Rochester Rd-and Alton Road, entering PHSG at that gate if possible
Going from Lipson to PHSG Turning R off N Hill can be difficult-see earlier comment. Returning to Lipson, turning out of Lawrence Rd or Alton Rd not difficult at all. Turning out of Alton Pl is difficult and should be avoided on the return route
