The way points of this bicycle route:
This route starts at the Lichfield Trent valley rail station, and the first part of this route follows the A5192 - usefuly though there is a cycle lane to help you out the city
Once in whittington its a straight run through to the new railway bridge at Hademore - it's a slight kink in the road but easy to follow.
Route findings now quite easy for a while - follow "main road" all the way through Harlaston, Haunton, and Clifton Campville until it meats the B5493 at No Mans Heath.
Cross the B5493 and follow Austrey Lane under the motorway, passing through Austry until you reach the short climb to Orton on the Hill
At the crest of the hill is a crossroads. You can either carry on down the road, taking a right onto main street followed by a left onto Sheepy Lane as I did, or you can take a right onto Norton Lane here and then a left onto "The Green" which looks more interesting.
Turning right onto the Twycross road leads you into Sheepy Magma, follow on through the village, taking a left onto Ratcliff Lane, a left at the T junction followed by a right turn will see you heading towards Atherstone.
Following the Ratcliff road into Atherstone, dog leg through the two main roads, finding your way onto Coleshill Road. Follow this out of Atherstone, turning left after the golf course onto Ridge Lane
At Ridge lane ( the village ) resist the temptation to turn left onto Ridge Lane - instead carry on on Birchley Heath Road which will lead you onto the B4114
Turning left onto the B4114 - it's probably best to avoid the right after the church - this looks pleasant on the map but the road is of poor condition and undulates heavily.
Turn Right onto the B4112, turning right again onto Ansley lane. Follow this until you meet the B4098
Its a short left right dog leg onto Mill Lane, which rises steadly to a junction - take the right T onto Broad Lane, avoiding the slightly offset right that would take you down ShawBury Lane.
Unfortuantely at this point, a combination of Hayfever, Heat and previous wrong turns eating up time made me think twice about my intended destination of Berkswell ( which I would have followed Hardingwood Lane ) I therefore took Fillongly Road that lead me into Coleshill.
Once on the main road in coleshill, take a right and follow the signs to Coleshill Parkway Train station.
