The way points of this bicycle route:
Starting at Bakehouse Cafe for an LBUG Sunday ride to Manly
L at Alexandra Drive.
L onto Bridge Rd, which is quiet on a Sunday morning.
Get in through lane to go straight ahead, or take a diversion left around the Fishmarket to Miller St. Can also use Bulwarra Rd to avoid the narrow bit of Bridge Rd.
Cross at Murray St to Pyrmont Bridge. Bikes can be ridden on bridge. (10 K zone) Lots of tourists so be prepared for some random behaviour.
Left onto the shared cycleway next to the Western Distributor.
Watch for turning traffic. Use lights to go up King St on new cycleway. Alternative is go down Sussex to Napoleon St or further to Towns Place.
L on Kent or Clarence.
Under freeway to Kent St.
R onto Kent St. Kent St is longer but not so steep.
R on Argyle St
Right onto Watsons Rd. Watch for buses.
Start of Harbour Bridge cycleway.
Great views but do keep your eyes out for workmen, stray pedestrians, speeding cyclists etc.
Path ends here. Steps down to Fitzroy St. Only ride down if extremely expert and foolish.
R on Alfred St.
Just after a roundabout, left up Middlemiss St. Narrow one-way street with contraflow bike lane.
Right through a tunnel.
Use footpath up the Pacific Highway
Watch for turning traffic and get onto the road here or stick with the footpath up to Miller St. Blue St on left is an alternative.
About here you need to get into the right turn lane. Easy on a Sunday, harder during the week. You can instead do a box turn at Miller.
R at Miller St.
Ridge St. Make a right turn but cross into the Park near North Sydney Oval. Have a breather after the climb up Miller.
Cross slip lane with care.
Wait for green light and make a right turn onto Bus Lane in Falcon St.
Bus Lane ends. Merge into traffic lane for a short section.
L at Ben Boyd Rd
R on Grosvenor Lane.
L on Waters Rd
R on Gerard St
L on McPherson St
R at Ourimbah St. Fast downhill right turn here- take care.
Left onto Spit Rd. Again, busy, but OK on a Sunday. Also slightly downhill so you can keep up with traffic.
Stop at pedestrian crossing. Use it to get to a shared path on other side of road.
Right onto Parawi Rd for a nice downhill. Little traffic but KEEP LEFT as no centre lines.
Lights at Spit Rd. Cross over to footpath on other side.
Use shared footpath on left.
Left up Battle Bvde. Moderately steep!
R on Egdeclife Esplanade. Nice climb! Have a break in park here. Best view in Sydney to the Heads.
L on Panorama Pde
R on Ponsonby Pde
Sydney Rd. Roundabout ahead.
Merge with traffic on left.
Avoid the far left lane. Keep in straight through lane as you approach this large intersection. There is a cycleroute down Hope St to Burnt Bridge Ck cycleway if the traffic is a worry. This comes out on Condamine St, not far from Balgowlah Rd, so can rejoin the route there.
Can also take Dudley on left to get to the Burnt Ck cycleway. Good if you are traffic shy.
Left lane ends. Watch when merging.
Left down Wanganella.
R at Kitchener St. Watch for fast traffic on Kitchener.
Condamine St.
Balgowlah Rd. Golf course on left.
L on Balgowlah Rd, or there is a bike route along Pacific Pine and Smith Sts to the right (use crossing at Kenneth Rd to turn right)
Can use shared path along here, or stay on-road.
Pittwater Rd roundabout. Watch for traffic. Can use shared path on left.
Cross Pittwater Rd at lights to Eorobin Av
L on Collingwood St

Cross here to footpath outside the SLSC. Toilets and water if needed.
Use shared foot/cyclepath or the road. Often too many walkers and children on the path. If using road, watch for motorists reversing out of parking spots.
The Corso. Time for a break and some food. Plenty of cafes here. Return via the Ferry or follow this route by road.
R on Wentworth.
For an optional extension, go left here and follow Darley Rd (steady climb) to North Head for fantastic views.
Ferry wharf. Ferries run every half hour on the quarter hour. If riding back, keep going on West Esp to a left at Commonwealth Pde

Follow Lauderdale Av.
R at Woodland St. Steep up to Sydney Rd, but not as steep as White St!
Left onto Sydney Rd. Use footpath if traffic is a worry.
On approach to the Manly Rd intersection wait for a gap in traffic and get into the far right straight through lane well beforehand.
Through roundabout on Sydney Rd, veers left.
R on Ponsonby Pde
L on Panorama Pde.
R on Edgecliffe Rd
L on Battle Bvde.
R onto side road to get onto bridge footpath. Watch for turning traffic off Manly Rd.
Cross at Lights to Parawi Rd. Watch for traffic on side access road.
Up Parawi Rd. Steady 2 k climb.
Top of climb. L onto shared path for a short section.
Watch for turning traffic at Warringah Rd.
End of shared path. Back on Spit Rd. Wide lanes, not too bad.
Awaba Rd. Can go left here to bypass Spit Rd via Moruben Rd

R on Civic Lane
R on Military Rd
L past Council Chambers to Myalgah Rd. If traffic too heavy can turn left on Military Rd and right at lights at Belmont Rd in Mosman.

Rangers Rd on right is an alternative route to Milsons Point, via Yeo St and Bent St.

L at Murdoch St. Follow To City signs. Busy but quick.

L at Harriette St. Keep speed up for a short sharp hill.
Left on Wycombe. Steep downhill.
R at Kurraba Rd
Road narrows at lights. Take the lane. Descent ahead.
Sweeping corner, watch speed.
Clarke Rd. Hill ahead.
High St. Go right heree for North Sydney.
Another hill
Right at lights to footpath under Bridge and rejoin the cycleway over the Bridge on west side.
Wheel bikes up the stairs. Again, only ride up if very expert.
End of cycleway. L on Upper Fort St.
Path goes over a narrow bridge over the Cahill Exp
Steep downhill ramp. Keep on shared path.
L on Kent St. Path ends.
R at Erskine St
L on Sussex St
Cross onto footpath at Slip St, traffic permitting.
R onto shared path next to freeway.
R onto Pyrmont Bridge. Ride with care- lots of pedestrians.
Everyone uses the lights to cross onto the footpath past the pub on corner. Illegal but no other way unless you figure out the lights and make a right turn onto Bridge Rd then a left into Union.
Contra flow lane here. watch for dopey cyclists using it the wrong way and drivers who arent expecting cyclists
Harris St. Cycle crossing here.
R into Saunders St. There is a gap in median just before the lights so you can turn.
Channel 10 on left
Ramp up to Anzac Bridge starts here. Watch for traffic and other cyclists, also taxis blocking the footpath ramp.
Long climb to apex of bridge.
Top of Anzac Bridge. Downhill run ahead.
Squeeze point. Pole in centre of path is a hazard - slow down.
Left onto overbridge. Or go right and use the other pedestrian bridge (steeper and narrower) to Lilyfield Rd.
Shared path.
Lights at The Crescent. Cross with care. Two stage crossing.
Right onto path under light rail bridge. (This end of Railway Pde is now a park.)
Railway Pde. Quiet street.
Back at Bakehouse Cafe.

Annual LBUG ride to Manly. A few good hills but distance is only 45 km return, or catch a ferry back. NB- the elevation profile on Bikely is misleading as it treats the Harbour Bridge as at sea level.
