The way points of this bicycle route:
Start at Bakehouse Cafe, Moore St, home of LBUG, for a Sunday morning cruise to La Perouse.
Nice S-bend here, get some speed up for the hill coming up but watch for parked cars and the bus stop just ahead.
Another nice bend on a down hill. get some speed up but watch for cars coming out of Wigram Rd on left.
hang left at Bridge Rd. An alternative shortcut to avoid this intersection is Alexandra Drive.
You can use the right turn bus lane at Ross St, bicyles excepted from the turn ban.
Cross Parramatta Rd and go through Uni grounds past the Physics Building to get to City Road exit.
Cross City Rd at lights into Codrington St.

Left into Abercrombie St
Turn right into Lawson St. Its narrow so take the lane. Head up past Eveleigh St and Redfern Stn. Wilson St is an alternative.
Right/left through the intersection onto Redfern St. There is a back lane cycleroute on Wells St but there is often glass and too many Stop signs.
Follow Redfern St across Elizabeth St and up a short hill to the end at Young St.
Left into Zamia St.
Use footpath to exit Zamia St. cul-de-sac. Cross Bourke St with care onto the footpath opposite, using a handy kerb ramp.
Follow footpath through a nice park between blocks of units to a pedestrian overbridge at South Dowling St. Watch inconvenient rails and hidden bollards on bridge.
Right along a cyclepath. If going to Centennial Park, turn left.
Footpath ends at Dacey Av. Nice wide lanes so hop on road and head east to Anzac Pde. Cyclepath looks inviting but cuts out half way along Dacey.
Get into right turn lane early. Usually easy to do, just pick your time to merge across.
Right at lights onto Anzac Pde
Use Bus Lane, usually ok on a Sunday. During week you might go up to Doncaster Av instead on footpath along Alison St.
Keep going on Anzac Pde. Buses can travel in packs along here, particularly outside the Uni. Doncaster Av may be better during the week.
Not so bad - lanes are wide. At the roundabout take care and turn left into Rainbow St. A long straight stretch ahead.
Short steep hill.
Right at Malabar Rd.
Roundabout. You could head north to Coogee from here on Arden St or keep on Malabar Rd if going to La Perouse. Green bike lane along Malabar Rd. Cemetery on right.
Left into Torrington Rd. Long downhill.
Check the surf from the cliff top park or have a coffee in the Cafe oposite.
Beach pavilion has toilets, water, cafe and restaurant. Fish and chips available from the shops nearby. Have a break or keep going.
Exit beach car park onto Fitzgerald Av.
Left onto Malabar Rd. Nice hill ahead, long but not steep.
Top of climb. Roundabout. Go straight ahead.
Path starts here on left, through some bush.
Rejoin Anzac Pde for a short section.
Left onto Cromwell Place.
Right at roundabout onto Dacre St.
Continue ahead on Bay Pde.
Ocean swimming pool on left. Keep speed up for a steep climb up Howe St. Left on Prince Edward at top.
Left at Bilga Crescent.
Big dipper on Bilga Cr - get some speed up on the downhill for the hill ahead.
Long Bay Jail on right. Do not stop.
Rejoin Anzac Pde. Cycle lane.
Follow Anzac Pde past residential development on old Price Henry Hospital site. Can take a detour down to coast.
Can detour down Jennifer St and Reservoir St to Grose St.
Left at intersection. Bike lane stops for reasons best known to the local Council.
Named after French explorer who arrived in Botany Bay in 1788 at same time as Capt Phillip.
Bare Island Fort. Good views. Popular scuba dive area.
Have a break in any of the cafes here, or even a swim in Frenchmans Bay. Boomerangs and didgeridoos are sold by people from the local Aboriginal community nearby. Museum has info on La Perouse the explorer.
Left atEndeavour Av and back to Anzac Pde.
There is a rough track on left past Yarra Bay House (old cable company managers residence) if you want to take a "short cut", joins Military Rd near Bunnerong Pt Rd. Have to walk bits of it.
Left on Anzac Pde.
Becomes Bunnerong Rd.
Left into cemetery, follow road through respectfully to exit at Military Rd. Or just head up Bunnerong Rd to Military rd, but the road is narrow along there.
You can take an extra diversion out to the point along Prince of Wales Dr. Overlooks the Bay. Otherwise turn right. Heavy vehicles use during week.
Left onto Botany Rd. This is a wide 2 lane main road. Take care and get ready to move across into the right turn lane to make a right turn at Beauchamp Rd at top of hill ahead.
Turn right at lights into Beauchamp Rd.
Left at Denison St - sign says To City. Fairly flat.
Left off Denison here, before Wentworth Av. Easier to cross Wentworth this way.
Dismount and access pedestrian island here and cross Wentworth Ave at lights into Banks Av.Use footpath along to Westfield Drive and then rejoin road at roundabout.
Roundabout. Use to get onto Banks Av.
Banks Av is a good run spoilt by a number of bumpy speed humps and road narrowings, so watch out when crossing them.
Left just before the big roundabout.
Traffic lights. Cross Gardeners Rd here, into Houston Rd. Bike lane appears.
Left at Day Av
Right onto Doncaster Ave
Rejoin outward route on Anzac Pde. Or take a detour to Centennial Park via Doncaster, Alison and Darley Rd entrance. There is a cyclepath along south side of Alison Rd.
Cross Alison Rd at lights onto cyclepath on other side of busway.
Cross busway here onto cyclepath along Anzac Pde.
Cross Anzac Pde using lights. Access cyclepath along Cleveland St.
Left onto a connecting cyclepath across park.
Left onto path.
Back at the overbridge. Retracing steps through Surry Hills and Redfern.
Le3ft here onto Wilson St just to see what its like (cycleroute to Newtown)
Back into Sydney University
Nice view of old uni buildings and the City.
Left down St Johns Rd for a short cut.
Right here onto Alexandra Drive if traffic permits. Have to merge right across into right turn lane. Otherwise continue on to Booth St.
Cross Johnston St.
Through the esses again and fang it up the hill.
Back at the cafe.
