The way points of this bicycle route:
Start at junction of Westferry and Eastferry roads
Head north via underground roundabout or diverted NCN route 1 northbound if different
Use lift or stairs to access Canary Riverside (may be signed NCN 1) or carry on via roundabout and TL on pedestrian path at traffic lights
Follow NCN 1
Cross Commercial Road using Toucan crossing and follow NCN into Salmon Lane
SO into NCN 1 (do not follow road left)
Continue on towpath (or follow NCN via park)
"Green bridge" over A11. Follow NCN 1 north through park or use towpath
NCN 1 via park rejoins here
TR on top of bridge - via barrier. Alternatively follow NCN 1 via Victoria Park to go to cafe
If you followed NCN via Park get back onto towpath here
Path crosses to East side of river via road bridge. Cycle along beside blue Olympics fence
Leave river and follow NCN 1 across to foorbridge
Cross footbridge
Follow path under railway bridge
TL onto Coppermill Lane Caution VERY low bridge
Footbridge over river
Cafe here
Go under road bridge and then back up to road, TR and then TR again onto cycle path (NCN 1)
Toilets here. to continue on route cross footbridge at tail of lock
Join Harbet Road
Go under North Circular Road - watch out for broken glass
Leave towpath, TR following NCN 1 through car park
TL over foorbridge following NCN 1
SO on cycle track
TR towards road and then SO Blanchards Close
SO (NCN 1 turns left)
Locked gate with very narrow gap beside it TL on main road then quickly TR
TR signed Lippitts Hill, steep climb
Owl PH on L
Follow road left
TR at T junction and then soon SO at X roads
Two take away cafes and pub here
Very busy roundabout, take B172 signed Theydon Bois (2nd exit)
Sixteen String Jack PH on L
Station - Central Line
Go under M11
TR onto A113 and then quickly TL signed Lambourne End
TL into New Rd
TL into Manor Rd
TR into Oakhill Rd
TL Tysea Hill
TR signed Noak Hill
TR Goatswood Lane
TL Chequers Rd and go over M25
TR Wrightsbridge Rd, becomes Weald Rd
Visitor Centre with take away cafe and toilets
TR Wigley Bush Lane, follow downhill
Go over A12
SO at A1023 at traffic lights
Go over M25
TR into Warley Rd then quickly TL Hall Lane
Go over A127
Get on train here - LUL to West Ham or C2C to Limehouse for a quick return to IOD
