bear Left - Hawleys Corners Rd, to its end
Right - N Chodikee Lake Rd, to its end
Left - rt 299 East [high speed - high traffic, wide shoulder as of 2009]
Right - S Chodikee Lake Rd, to its end
Left - New Paltz Rd
Right - Philips Av (becomes Commercial Av) to its end
Right - Vineyard Av / rt 44
Left - Tillson Av
curve Right, then Left to traffic light
Straight across rt 9W onto Haviland Rd
Variation -- to take Mid-Hudson Bridge sidewalk across Hudson River to Poughkeepsie (adds about 1.5 miles to route): instead continue Straight on Haviland Rd to its end, then go on sidewalk on north side of bridge. Left onto driveway to Walkway over the Hudson
Walkway over the Hudson [www.walkway.org] - east across the Hudson River to Poughkeepsie. (normally closed for all or part of night-time hours)
finish going east across the Hudson River toward Poughkeepsie. To make a loop, can connect to another route: Walkway to Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge east side route (search on Bikely for [bhvr6a])
at end of Walkway, bear Right down asphalt path
Left onto Parker Av / rt 9G North - (public road with substantial motor traffic)
to continue loop route north to Rhinebeck, can continue Straight on Parker Ave / rt 9G North and get directions from a different route. To go to the Poughkeepsie train station, can turn Right on Garden St, then first Right on Brookside Ave for about 0.6 mile, then turn Left and look signs for the train station

From Kingston south to Highland + Walkway on the west side of the Hudson River -- half of a loop around the two bridges. Includes the best riding alongside the River north of Beacon, and lots of quiet roads thru the woods. Hilly. Mostly avoids higher-traffic roads.
