The way points of this bicycle route:
Safest 401 xing east of Humber (islington), west of east Don @DVP! Argue otherwise!
yes people hate being blocked by arbitrary obstacles - there is an xing over the tracks here with the alignment of holes in fences. obviously many people use this thus there should be a pedestrian xint here! (consider the distance to go around on foot or bike here! over 6km round trip!!)
park near 401/railway dead end so you probably never knew it existed! Really nice valley with thick forests, nearly a convincing simulation of wilderness (with a nice asphalt path thru it) - saw a Rabbit and heard rare songbirds that the cats havent gotten at yet middle of a friday afternoon!
a bit nasty scenery but low traffic and smooth slightly downhill (south) the whole way, really awesome coast with no redlights or cross streets worth stopping at ;)
beltline from Caledonia to Yonge, only crosses 3 major roads (bath/ave!), goes over dufferin on a bridge.
The beltline was a railway from before the turn of the last century (1890s) - there must have been a bridge over the valley that the allen is in - but it was removed. a new bridge should be put in and the beltline put through without this damn gap with poor excuse-for-a-trail bikelanes on castlefield (busy with trucks, nasty!)
Beltline east to yonge picks up here again.
