The way points of this bicycle route:
Day 11 (Oct 21) of a planned ride from Narita to Fukuoka. Start at the inn and head west, downstream.
Turn left on the highway.
An exit to the left. Could get off here, or stay on the highway. Looks interesting, so lets get off.
Cross the river, and double back on the other side.
Turn south again at the intersection.
Another intersection, just after crossing a stream. Continue south.
Rejoin the highway, just past a hotel and at a gas station. There's a junction here; take the south (left) highway, 156.
The north end of another large reservior.
Could turn off left here and follow the lake.
The side road rejoins here.
Cross over an arm of the lake.
A second bridge across the lake, to the east side.
Junction with 158, at a stoplight. Stay to the right, on 156. There's a gas station here, and maybe a small town.
After a small urban area, turn left on Highway 321, and head east.
Cross under the freeway.
Stay SW on the highway.
Be careful at an odd junction here. Turn sharply back on the first right, highway 452. Just ahead is a second fork, both of which go nowhere helpful. There is a shrine of some sort about a quarter mile straight ahead though, on the left branch.
Cross back under the freeway to he wst side.
Highway 45 crosses here, as we reach the side of the river. If you go right and back a short ways, there's a circle K. When you're done, head SW, stil on 453, which wil son join highway 156.
Merge onto 156 at a light, and head south.
Highway 316 leaves to the east, circles back, and crosses under us. Continue straight.
314 leaves for the north. Go south, following the river.
Looks like the northern end of the rail line.
A confusing area. Turning left at the light will stay on 156, the route the website follows. Lets go across the large highway circle ahead though, coming out on smaller highway 52 as it branches to the south, on the west side of the river.
Cross under the freeway, on 52.
61 crosses the river here. If we're not liking 52, we could cross over here and turn right onto 156 again instead, just past the station.
Highway 52 turns right here, but we continue south, now on 61. Shortly we cross under the freeway.
Another small bridge. Lets cross over, an turn right onto 156. Hachiman is not far ahead.
Intersect with 319. Conintue south, following the track.
A stopsign just past a freeway overpass, and just before the stream on the north side of Hachiman. Turn left, and enter the town.
take the right fork of a Y in the road, heading straight east.
Turn right and cross the bridge.
Take a brief right, and then left onto route 319, and a left again at the next corner.
On the right side of route 319, a block north of the river.
