The way points of this bicycle route:
If you want to avoid the crazy Dundas-Bloor-Kipling interchange, you can go up to Royalavon and left on Tyre to Kipling instead. However, there's no traffic light for the left turn back down Kipling, so you may have to wait a while for a break in traffic.
Wide curb lane on Dundas St. Give yourself lots of space. Occasional debris in the curb lane to to area construction, so watch for that.
When entering the Six Points Interchange (where Bloor, Dundas, and Kipling intersect), you have to know where you're going. Follow the signs that say Dundas St. (Don't turn off towards Kipling!).
Watch for fast cars, and cars merging from the right. Give yourself lots of space and take the lane if necessary.
Don't merge right as you ride through here, otherwise you'll just have to merge to the left again.
Turn right at the lights at Aukland. Avoid passing vehicles on the right here, as the might be turning right too! Alternately, you can turn right on Jopling or Beamish, but they don't have the benefit of a signalized intersection at Bloor.
Watch for cars turning in and out of Tim Horton's.
Merge to the left turn lane.
Turn left on Bloor. From here on, Bloor St. is basically a 4-lane minor arterial. It can actually be a pretty pleasant ride. Just give yourself lots of room and most drivers will pass with plenty of room too (there usually isn't too much traffic).
There's a nice downhill towards the East Mall here. If you're lucky with the lights, you can use the momentum to help carry you over the Highway 427 overpass.
Watch for cars turning from the East Mall as you approach the bridge. Merge over to the right lane when it's clear.
Merge to the left so you're out of the right-turn lane.
Continue straight on Bloor St.
Crossing into Mississauga.
Watch for turning cars at Dixie Rd. Continue straight through.
Prepare to turn right (this is the widest right turn lane I've ever seen!)
Watch for cars as you merge to the left on Central Parkway.
Get ready to merge into the left turn lane as you approach Burnhamthorpe Rd.
Turn left on Burnhamthorpe. CAUTION! The right lane gets narrow very soon. You should prepare to give yourself alot of space, even take the whole lane as you cross the short bridge. There's not enough room for cars to pass in the same lane. If you wait too long to take the lane, it might be more difficult to do this!
Narrow lanes over the bridge. Take the lane!
Merge into the right turn lane. Careful: The pavement here is aweful. Don't go too far to the right.
Turn right on Robert Speck Parkway.
Hurontario St. is a large, ugly, high-traffic road. Watch for turning cars as you proceed straight through.
As you approach City Centre Dr., you should be in either the right lane (if you're turning right), or the middle lane (if you're turning left). Watch for pedestrians, oddly-timed traffic signals, and speeding cars.
